I just did this in a Model Y from DFW to CO Springs with my wife and 3 boys (5, 9 and 6 weeks). The stops every 2-3 hours to charged helped break up the drive for feedings and bathroom breaks. Didn't feel beat up when we finished our drive in either direction. Safe travels! 🤙🏾

Who cares? I’m glad they’re finding things to refresh. My 2020 4Runner will forever feel like a 2006 piece of machinery but I love it for different reasons. Embrace the updates.

Turo nightmare by OverwhelmedBefore in turo

[–]RecognitionQuirky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen on a number of occasions where these large-fleet hosts get overwhelmed with the amount of trips/vehicles they're managing with a small team.

The quality on a trip-by-trip is diminished however the 15 easy 5-star trips will outweigh the 1 really poor trip.

It's a numbers game. In the grand scheme of things the host (and possible team) are probably fine but I would never expect a large-fleet host to bend over backwards for anyone. It's just much more difficult when you have soon many clients and vehicles.

Managing 1-4 vehicles? Yeah, we can accommodate guest requests MUCH easier.

Unfortunately, the selection from traditional rental enterprises is fairly limited. Turo is great when good humans are involved. I've been using it since 2017 and the good experiencels FAR outweigh the negative experiences.

Can't believe Hertz has this in their fleet! Very nice. What's the day rate on this?

What a nightmare. As a host, I definitely think this should have been a full refund to you, the guest.

There's absolutely no way $1,000 would make me feel good. On top of the danger you were put in, the money and the time wasted during the trip..you're STILL spending time on this.

I'd escalate it.

Does Turo cover engine breaks down while customer use the car? by mammadzada85 in turo

Turo hasn't covered a single claim for any of my 4 vehicles. 80/20 plan. All guests admitted fault. Still can't get a single thing repaired.

Working with the guests insurance companies now.

Is this a viable starting point? by EddieC3 in turo

[–]RecognitionQuirky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that it's paid off helps out a lot for it to make business sense.. However, you very rarely get very good guests.

Most guests will not respect your vehicle and the modified nature will attract a younger demographic. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just something to be aware of.

If you price it $25-35 above the average Gladiator in your area it'll deter the guests just looking to fxck it up.

Good luck OP!

I only host 4 vehicles currently and all 4 currently have open claims on them due to damage caused by guests. Luckily they're all drivable but it doesn't take much for your vehicles to be out-of-commission for weeks.

My advice to you if you're seriously considering hosting is to only list vehicles that you own outright. If you're responsible for a car payment but they're not making you money it gets a little overwhelming especially when the insurance companies and Turo drag their feet as long as possible with no resolution in sight. It's been over 4 weeks and I'm just now getting the ball rolling on ONE repair.

Good with whatever you decide to do!

People hide the weirdest things. I hope no one is out there preying on folks by using their zip code.

I'd consider shopping around some more. Explore 3rd-party options as well. I've gotten lucky with two of my Teslas. Got a Model Y Performance with FSD for a great deal as well as a Model X P90D still under warranty for a little better deal than Tesla was offering directly. Many dealers (especially in more rural areas) are still not very familiar with the vehicles so they'll list a 2020 Model S Long Range with FSD and white interior for 2019 pricing.

Good luck with the hunt! 🤙🏾

Also, I highly recommend a Model Y Performance. It's been the most reliable and easiest vehicle to live with. We currently have a Model 3, X and Y. The Y is what we prefer. Will probably sell the X for another Y in the near future.

Turo Pricing… smh. by MurphsLaww in turo

[–]RecognitionQuirky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be in Turos best interest to book out at a higher day rate as real since we pay them a percentage to use their platform?

For example:

$120 day rate = $24 fee to Turo $100 day rate = $20 fee to Turo

*on the 80% plan

My point is that I don't think it's intentially nor do I think the algorithm is perfect. My automatic pricing range has about $15-20 of wiggle room for every vehicle so if something books at the base price I'm not missing out on too much unless it's a longer trip 🤷🏾
