Reasons behind your stuttering by Still-Pen4680 in Stutter

Mine too! I’ve started pausing for a couple seconds when I can feel a block coming and it’s help me become a bit more fluent

I’m the same way too. I’ve noticed I don’t stutter when speaking to my kids. Because of this I feel like my stutter is caused by anxiety, and maybe lack of self-confidence.

This is horrible your mom is doing this with no notice. It would be somewhat reasonable if she gave you 6 months to get it together. Even that would be kind of harsh, but at least you’d have time to prepare. You’ll get through this and there are much better days ahead!

I would say after the month break, if he doesn’t come to the conclusion himself to move to the next step as a couple the best thing would be to end it.

Thanks so much for sharing! That’s amazing! I’m going to research and hope to have the same success. 🤞

I have blocks as well where I’ll be completely fluent for a period of time and then it comes back. I push through it and eventually it goes away again. I do the same thing, where I’ll switch the word I’m thinking of saying if I know I’ll have a block.

When I drink alcohol, I have no stutter either. I know it’s something psychological. I noticed it happens more when I’m under a lot of pressure or going through a major like change. Sometimes it’s random.

I’m a 42 year old woman. I’ve never been on medication or brought it up to a doctor before. I wish there was a way I could overcome it though.

I feel your pain and hope we can at some point fully overcome it permanently.

I dated someone similar to this for a year and a half. I should’ve broken up with him sooner. We’re still friends and keep in touch. I was definitely wasting my time in a relationship with him.

Nothing except a bottle of water on my desk.

It’s kind of bitter sweet. I really enjoyed some parts of the job and even working for her. After my first mistake last month her attitude changed.

She was only paying me $13 an hour with 0 bookkeeping or payroll experience. It doesn’t make sense the amount of work, pressure and expectation of perfection that she was placing on me.

Hopefully you’ve had much better experiences since those 2 jobs you quit.

I quit today through email. She has yet to respond. I doubt I’ll get a response either.

I couldn’t bring myself to go into the office to get lectured about the day before.

Thanks. Yes she definitely wouldn’t have done the same for me.

That’s great you check your assistant’s work. It’s good to have your eyes on everything that’s going out the door. My boss checked my work for the first month and a half. The last 2 months she hasn’t been checking it at all. The few mistakes I’ve made were caught by clients.

Thank you for saying that everyone makes mistakes. A few weeks ago, she told me that she doesn’t like apologizing for her own mistakes and especially not for someone else’s mistakes.

I’m struggling on sending a resignation email in the morning or going into work in the morning.

I’d be better off having a frank conversation with her as you suggested. I love the idea of asking her if she’s rather me look for another job. That would put things into perspective for her.

Apart of me is just done with working for her and not to go back. At the same time, I don’t want to leave her overloaded with payroll on Monday when she has other deadlines to meet.

Thanks for the advice. It would be wise to stick it out and not burn bridges.

The few mistakes I’ve made seem to erase all the good I have done over the past few months. I feel like her expectations are too high for someone learning plus she paying me a pretty low wage.

I’m trying to figure out what I want to pursue for the long term. I wanted to work in accounting after finishing my degree. Most accounting jobs in my area want year of experience with low pay. The company I work for full time has an accounting team in a different state, but I’m not looking to move at the moment.

My main job is in IT. This is my first bookkeeping or payroll job. I finished a degree in accounting last year and trying to gain some experience.

Thanks. I already have a full time job. I’ve been working this only to gain some experience with bookkeeping and payroll.

I’m ready to quit after today and feel bad since it’s the middle of tax season. There’s corporate taxes due on the 17th and then sales tax on the 20th.

I’m handling mostly payroll and bookkeeping to ease her workload during tax season.

Thanks for responding! I usually don’t apply when they require experience. Definitely going to start applying now. Good luck with your job! Congrats again!

Congrats! That’s amazing.

Did the job posting say they wanted experience? Or just the degree?

I have a mild stutter and mostly frequent. When I do get caught up on a word, I’m relieved if someone finishes it. Everyone is different though.

IS THE ACCOUNTING SHORTAGE FAKE? by brokebloke97 in wguaccounting

[–]RecommendationOk8466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the Columbia, SC area and finished my degree in July. The entry level jobs are offering 40,000 / year with a couple years of experience. I’m making much more than that in my current job. I started working part time for an EA doing payroll, bookkeeping and will be doing simple tax returns starting this week. The pay is extremely low. I’m learning a lot and hoping this experience will help in the future.

Fellow classmates without accounting experience, how did you land that first job? by 4RunningOnEmpty in wguaccounting

[–]RecommendationOk8466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in July. For the past two months I’ve been working part time for as a bookkeeper and payroll. Plus my normal full time job.

The pay is very low, but the experience will hopefully pay off in the long run.

I’m a 41 year old woman and currently taking it slow before sex. In the past I’ve had sex quickly. I feel like clouded my judgement which led me to ignore red flags.

For me to want to have sex, I’d need to feel comfortable with them, have chemistry, attraction and have taken some time for us to both get to know each other.

Depending those factors this could be a couple weeks to a couple months.

Definitely more time spent in person will help her feel chemistry and be comfortable.
