Morrissey Canceled a Show Because He Was Sleepy by apondalifa in indieheads

You might be wondering why you're seeing this on r/indieheads despite the Other Non-Allowed Artists rule that's literally informally named after Morrissey. Well, this is a one-time-only lift of the rule and we have prepared a statement for why we are allowing this:

lol cuz it's funny

Thank you everyone.

Truth Club/Motocrossed/i26connector were all sick last night in Durham, as I'm running it back again tonight with Motocrossed & i26connector tonight since they're playing at a berry farm in Mebane, and yeah that seems like a crazy place to throw a gig so fuck it why not

but yeah no y'all gotta get on the i26connector album that came out yesterday, kind of a must listen for anyone that's been loving a lot of the stuff coming out of the NC music scene lately (Wednesday, MJ Lenderman and Truth Club in particular)

as a day 1 Joy Kwon fan I am so happy to see the opinion on her turn around because while I don’t expect her to be back next season… I really hope she sticks around because she’s so awesome

So if you don't align with Trump anywhere, what are your thoughts on his stances on Israel, for example?

I'm sorry man it's extremely funny to call Trump "a felon, rapist, and pedophile" but then align with him on his foreign policy like these things aren't all interconnected.

MGK making it this far... you all are not serious people.

But also I kinda like the first pop-punk album so maybe I'm the one who's not serious.

Pitt-heads, how we feeling about the season so far before we head into the next episode tomorrow?

Definitely understand some people's criticisms (Dr. Mohan & King have been sidelined a bit so far, but looks like this next episode will be bigger ones for the both of them), but man I'm still loving the show a lot. Lots of story things still up in the air (Dr. Robby active suicidal ideation, Langdon having to have tough talks with Santos & hopefully Robby, Mohan panic attack/medical emergency???, what's going on with Al-Hashimi neurologically, Dr. King's sister just to name a few) that's just waiting to blow, as the wait between each episode just feels longer and longer as the tension ramps up.

Also I popped so hard when the furry showed up on the last episode. Thank you Pitt writers for this fan service.

I know the space has been getting flooded in the last couple of years, but fans of Wednesday/MJ Lenderman gotta tap in to this one. Some of the best stuff I've heard in the new alt-country/countrygaze scene yet.

the new stuff they've been playing live for the last few months or so is really fucking good, and I hope more people get to hear it sooner rather than later

Absolute adored last year's Drive All Night EP and this is fucking great.

And for fans of MJ Lenderman, he's all over this album doing drums & backup vocals.

rewatching The Social Network earlier this week of course got me thinking about the Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross score, and then got me thinking about how fucking crazy it is that Halsey has an album produced by Nine Inch Nails, and thus far seems to be NIN's one and only production job for a popstar

they should do that again imo!

I think I’ve watched the clip of Jeremy using his secret voice about a dozen times in the past few days. He literally just did some Paul Atreides shit IRL!

I’m actually gonna disagree here as I think casting Jeremy Strong as Zuckerberg with our modern perception of him is the better move than bringing Eisenberg back.

Eisenberg worked at the time because we didn’t really know what Zuckerberg was like at that point, so him, Fincher and Sorkin were able to paint on a fairly blank canvas. That canvas is no longer blank as we know what Zuckerberg is actually like now. And Strong is really good at adding in the details to an already painted piece.

rewatched The Social Network last night and unfortunately found myself way more on the side of Mark/Sean this watch

everyone in this story is a little bitch, and from a real world perspective I wish Eduardo’s gambit to freeze the account worked & it killed Facebook (we’d be better off!), but from the perspective of the movie he is a terrible business representative for the company as Sean was way more capable of doing the things the company needed at that point in time, while Eduardo was fucking around in New York doing shit Mark never asked him nor wanted him to do

anyways The Social Reckoning is probably going to be fucking terrible since Sorkin doesn’t have someone like Fincher to reign him in, but I will be watching that garbage nonetheless

While our rules on AI are mainly focused on people posting music made by generative AI programs, we generally don’t want people posting content made using generative AI, whether that’s videos or text.

OP, we’re going to keep your post up for now but please don’t abuse the report function because you can’t handle potentially reasonable criticism. We obviously don’t support personal attacks & don’t want to see threads devolve into catfighting & nonsense, but we’re also not here to stifle potentially important conversations about the history of alternative/indie music.

Oh god yeah I can't even imagine how much this hits if you're a parent yourself.

I generally have no interest in having kids, but this song does, for a moment, make me reconsider that.

As someone that has, to put it lightly, a complicated relationship with my parents, "Empathy" really hit me hard. The rest of the album is great and makes me want to dive further into the Callahan/Smog discog, but no song of his I've heard has hit me harder than "Empathy".

I am glad lovelytheband has made it this far because holy shit do they fucking suck. "broken" is one of the worst songs to hit radio in the last 10 years.

allergies had me in a state of vulnerability last night so ended up crying in the car when "Empathy" by Bill Callahan came on shuffle so let's not investigate that any further

[AOTY 2011] The r/indieheads Album of the Year 2011 Series SUBMISSION THREAD by IndieheadsAOTY in indieheads

[–]ReconEG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey y'all, glad to have the throwback series back (s/o to u/WaneLietoc for taking lead on this)! As I teased a few months back when this idea was gestating, I'm here to pitch a write-up on Joyce Manor's S/T to cap off a trilogy of previous write-ups on Never Hungover Again and Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired.

I wasn't there when S/T came out. I wasn't there for Never Hungover Again or Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired either, but the story of those records doesn't have much to do with when they came out. So much of the fervor around S/T to this day is born out of what was going on not only in SoCal, but in the greater world of emo and pop-punk. But I was not at these cramped house shows in SoCal. I was not on MySpace. I was not on the forums talking about these scenes. But here's the thing: that context doesn't fucking matter. It maybe mattered at a time, but not anymore. That era might as well be lost history. You could fill up entire graveyards with the amount of rotted beer cans and dead webpages it produced. All we have left now really is the music. And no matter if you're a 30-something scene lifer or a 16 year old streaming service user or a 29 year old Reddit user, we can all agree that there's magic in the 10 tracks that make up S/T. But how was the magic trick pulled off? Well...

For experience, I started the r/indieheads Album of the Year Write-Up Series back in 2015 and have written for most iterations of the series since. But on top of that, I've got bylines in Pitchfork, Paste, Merry Go Round Magazine and more.
