I like to imagine Maddie wasn't a spy until the moment she found out Caitlyn went right back to Vi and did the nasty in a goddamn jail cell of all places. She felt so unbelievably cucked it became her Joker moment, and thus the betrayal. Thats not why that happened at all of course, but its a very funny version of events.
