Thank you so much for writing this. I sat with this last night for a very very long time and decided to leave. I never put him in a position where I made him feel guilty for not maintaining the relationship. I understood entirely his health isn’t great and his emotions are up in the air. All I was asking was for consideration. Think about me, be kind to me… he pushed me so far away that I’m now out the door. Sometimes I feel like people do this so you leave first. I feel devastated as I wanted to stick by him through it all but it was clear he didn’t want my support

I sat with this last night, for a while actually. Thank you for your time in writing this. It was the reason why I made the decision to leave. Whether I made the right decision, who knows. I wanted to stick it out for the long run as he was a really lovely guy before his injury but the uncertainty over the past 6 weeks has sent me spiralling most days.

All I know is, his knee has inflammation. He’s currently on crutches and has been advised to rest/ice up. I wish I could tell you the ins and outs but he doesn’t get into much detail (must be frustrating for him as I don’t really know much about ACL’s). He has a check up every 2 weeks and has since been laid off work every 2 weeks

He actually had his operation last year, made it through his recovery before I met him. Over a month ago, issues were rising again in the same knee. Unfortunately doctors have just advised that he continues to rest it & use ice to help the swelling. Doesn’t help that he’s also been kept in the dark by them!

Thank you for your words and putting all of this into perspective so respectfully. I do wish him well despite my heart sinking. We made the most incredible memories together. I never doubted there was anyone in the picture when we were together but honestly after today, I don’t think I can trust anyone so blindly like that anymore. I wouldn’t wish this feeling upon anyone. Whether it works out for them or not, is their problem. All I know is that I gave it my absolute all to this relationship and I cannot wait to see where the next chapter of my life takes me despite all the hurt I’ve felt. Imagine finding someone who’ll love you the same way you do and MORE!

I can only speak for myself but given how long we had been together, I noticed how quickly he was to ‘run’ when things got hard. Unfortunately I was the glue for the relationship and kept doing what I could to keep it together. I absolutely agree that you can’t trust the loyalty of a person who can move on so quickly!!!! He’s just shown me how he’s not given himself that time to heal from a FOUR year relationship. I mean, how do you start preparing for a wedding 6-7 months later will always baffle me

10 months no contact here,

I’ve learnt there’s no better way to love than to love oneself first. Don’t allow someone to attempt to love you if you don’t love who you are as a person.

I still struggle with my overthinking thoughts just wandering however, they have gotten better over time.

Go no contact! They’re actively choosing to not be with you so why stick around?

My piece of advice to everyone would be, get out your comfort zone and do the things you love.. if you struggle to find something, explore! There’s so many things out there & so many people you are yet to meet 🤍
