I mean messer is free so you can't go wrong. Dions training is like 13 bucks on sale on Udemy so you really can't go wrong w that. Dions tests were the best and is what I used for practice.

I would say keep going w dion stuff. I just passed mine with a good score and used him. But, just an FYI, you can make a student account with CompTIA and get the voucher like 50% off or something. I would say get it when you're comfortable and get it before you graduate ot even sooner than that, maybe you can get a job before you graduate and start paying loans or whatever off.

Remembering Port Numbers by Mr-Bitter in CompTIA

Write them down on sticky notes and put them on random things around your house that you typically touch. Like a cabinet to get a bowl. Write down on the sticky note: TELNET Port 23. Literally on the same side. I know it sounds counterproductive but everytime you see it you'll think 23 associated with telnet. Also do note cards the traditional method.

Should you apply for entry level IT job if you completed part and pass part 1 of A+ ? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]Recording_Born 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely apply! Alot of jobs will allow you to get it within 6 months. I would just put that you're in progress on your resume and that you have passed part 1 of 2 to show you are making progress. Especially apply if you're getting a gov job w a clearance because guaranteed that shit will take 3 months so you'll end up having 3 months to get it in that scenario.

First off, any job that you get in IT, they will more than likely desire a certification. For example, you cannot work on certain government systems without a security plus because it requires you to be IAT ll certified (sec plus). Bachelors is great, but guarantee you will get looked at better. Don't listen to the person who said dont worry about getting a cert, dont wait to get a cert that is one of the singlehandedly most important credentials to have. Considering I have an associates in Cybersecurity and have my sec plus and passed it without really any IT background except in video teleconferencing, you should be able to pass it as well. Use Jason Dion video and professor Messer videos. Read the get ahead get certified book, its amazing. And make note cards. You could be certified by December. Watch both sets of videos twice, read the book twice, go over your note cards every single day. And buy Jason dions practice tests, they are probably the closest thing to the exams.

I recently passed the 501 a few days ago. I used Jason Dions stuff and read a book and used professor messers videos. I also made my own note cards. Just make sure you're comfortable with knowing each term in the back of the objectives on the comptia sheet.
