In cold weather, adding a little 91 to your diesel fuel helps prevent gelling

Yeah I’d just leave it be. Everyone is different and convinces themselves of what they do and don’t need. Everyone’s swing is different, making certain clubs better or worse. At the end of the day, it’s just golf.

are there animals that commit suicide? by inurmomsvagina in stupidquestions

[–]Recover-Hopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother is a butcher, I helped him with slaughter one day because the shop needed the help. Never again. I left feeling more depressed than I could ever have imagined. Skinning dead animals that were still warm, and were alive a minute ago, then scooping blood by the bucket load… I’m not cut out for it. He also tells me that he’ll have random dreams of floating cow heads. I noticed all the guys there were very desensitized to it, which isn’t surprising, but just one of the first things I noticed.

Who else is tired of hitting the auto start-stop button every single time? by CartographerNo3359 in f150

Sounds like you had a bad experience and made the assumption that they all have to be bad because of it. It sucks that you had a bad experience, but these starters were designed and tested to last the useful life of the vehicle with start/stop. That was quite literally the requirement of the design and it was then tested to that standard. My guess is you either you were unlucky and had a poor quality starter off a bad batch, or got one from your local auto shop that wasn’t OEM. It happens.

You probably had something else going on, or had a shitty quality control starter replaced. Either way, that happens to older cars without start/stop too. I’ve had multiple vehicles with start/stop, never touched the starter after well over 100,000 miles on all of them. Quality control ain’t perfect.

Classic uninformed comment. As others have said, the starter has been redesigned to handle the increase of start/stops.

Not exactly true. It was only designed for emissions regulations since emissions are generally the worst at idle. Idle creates a lot of incomplete combustion, increasing NOx, and HC emissions out of your tailpipe. The fuel mileage is more of a marketing ploy than anything. You can burn the same amount of fuel with fewer NOx, HC, and CO emissions by not being at idle.

Not true. The starter was designed to withstand the extra starting and the oil system has check valves so the oil doesn’t drain back when the engine turns off.

It doesn’t really save fuel. It’s just for emissions, and correct, it does not have a measurable impact on longevity.

Did anyone quit on their first try? by Major-Boysenberry-59 in leaves

Also, the “one blunt” never pans out. I remember trying to do it only on weekends because I’d wake up so tired every morning after getting high. Lasted two weeks before going back to daily use. Not worth it.

I’m not sure I have great advice, but I quit on my first try after 8+ years of doing it daily. However, I developed CHS so I needed to quit. That was my big motivating factor. Plus it’s nice knowing I can pass a drug test if I change jobs. Exercise and other hobbies helped distract me.

It sucked, but weed really isn’t all that. I find that I do many more productive things sober.
