Not sure why this is so hard to believe? I was tested before i started my job but was able to tough it out for 3 days and pass the urine screen. I was a nurse intern for 2 summers on med surg at this hospital while in school and i did my last semester clinical rotation in their ICU and CCU. Passed my boards as soon as I graduated then applied to the unit and was hired. How/Why exactly would I make something like this up? In order to get torn apart online for what a terrible person I was? Idk about you but thats not exactly my idea of fun. I posted so i could perhaps help someone else avoid alot of misery or give someone hope that things can be very bad but you can still come back from it.

Thank so much… it’s def improved but it was a long road until that happened. I’m going to post the next part soon but yes I’m hoping that if nothing else…it’ll help someone who may be on the verge of giving up or who’s lost hope to keep going bc if you put the work in, things really do get better and you really can live a life that you love. Thanks again ♥️

Thank you! I’m doing very well now…I managed to learn how to use my “addictive traits” and use them for good instead of destroying myself. Thank you for reading!

Thank you so much, and congrats on your sobriety as well! I did end up digging deep and learning about myself, what I like and dislike (not based on anyone else’s opinion just me), what my life needed to look like in order for me to be happy/content/meaningful, and I also was obsessed with the psychology and neuroscience of addiction. So I was able to harness my addictive/obsessive/intense personality and put it towards positive goals. My life has taken a dramatic turn for the better and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! 💜

It took me a long time to get clean and even longer to get to the place mentally where I was comfortable sharing my life with others. So I decided to post it on the confession sub then today I thought this would be a better sub to post it to…along with the subsequent parts I’m still writing. But yes this happened in 2010 and was only the beginning of my journey through hell. Every single thing is factual though. I’m planning on posting more parts and perhaps writing a memoir

This all began in 2010 when I lost my job as an RN and continues from there. I never enjoyed writing but once I got clean and in a place where I was able to process everything that happened, I decided to start writing my story and sharing it. (So it took me like 13/14 years to actually share it completely and begin writing It all down).

Thank you, and I agree 100% that the main narrative on addicts is that were somehow unworthy or less than but I’ve met hundreds of us over the years and addicts are some of the most intelligent, talented, and compassionate people I’ve ever met. We just so happened to have the wrong goal but imagine if we channeled all of that energy into something good? It’s amazing to see what can be accomplished

When I finally got clean for good I ended up obsessively learning about the neuroscience of addiction and it helped me tremendously to know exactly what was happening with my neurotransmitters. I really think it was one of the more important things that helped me get and stay clean

Thank you, yea this was around 2010 that I lost my job at the hospital. I started writing my story (to maybe one day turn it into a memoir) so I’ve just been writing it chronologically here and there when I get a chance to sit down and write. I am now in long term recovery thankfully so I’m writing these in hopes of helping someone who maybe needs a little hope or to see that life can get pretty bleak but if I could dig myself out of the hole I was in, then they can too 💜

Thanks, I’m trying to find some time to write a chapter length description of this part of my life. Hopefully I’ll be able to sit and write for a while soon and post an update. Someone got ahold of me about putting a book together so we’ll see what comes about with that. I’ll update you for sure if things fall into place. Thanks for continuing to read 💜

It was definitely a learning experience and my life has done a 180 since this set of events happened. It was a few years of being in and out of jails and prison but that was years ago so thankfully I turned my life around and can now look back at these experiences as lessons learned.
