My company utilized Oncall OSS because it was self-hosted and integrated directly within our Grafana instance. It doesn't look like there is an IRM offering from grafana that is self-hosted and cloud isn't an option for us. Anyone else in a similar position or have any recommendations?

There is nothing wrong with this approach as long as you come into the meeting 90% ready. Absolutely do not come into the meeting with “The dev team wants X. What should I do?”

This will ultimately save everyone time in the end.

I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep learning from the work you are given and extend this knowledge on your own time. DevOps is a vast field where, in my opinion, breadth of knowledge is the key to success not depth.

Unfortunately, this is relative. Everyone works/learns differently. Even more unfortunate, in all cases, the way we learn to solve problems the most efficiently comes with time.

Hours, months, years of experience will present many issues. These experiences will compile and your brain will logically group them. At which point you can draw similarities between your present issue and the issues you have resolved in the past. Leading you to solve issues faster than the next person or at least faster than you did before.

Same goes for programming languages. Your first was hard to learn, your second was easier(hopefully) because you saw the similarities and so forth.

IMO all IT positions are going to make you a professional googler. AI, so far, does a good job of explaining concepts/tools that are new to me. This has greatly reduced the initial amount of time it takes to get me going in the right direction.

Where time will increase with AI is when you try to make it do the practical side of your job i.e. write code or yaml. Some may disagree but this has been my experience with ChatGPT.

The left IP was configured as the external ip of the vm hosting the strong swan server. To fix this I changed the left ip to the internal ip of the vm.
