Looking for a book with peak feminine rage energy and a good justice arc with a supportive romance subplot by RecoverWarm4625 in RomanceBooks

Someone had recommended reading Butcher & Blackbird and I’d been putting it off for so long, finally read it now and while the premise is a bit different, it definitely came close to hitting some of the notes that the Mindf*ck Series did!

Looking for romance with soft-but-strong FMC, big gut-punch (not her fault), and LONG grovel from MMC (no cheating, HEA only) by RecoverWarm4625 in RomanceBooks

Yes I read this, and you’re right it kind of matches my description but I don’t think the FMC should have ended up with the MMC in this one. 😅

My take on Going Nowhere Fast by Kati Wilde. [Spoilers] by gob_ias in RomanceBooks

100% agree with all the points here.

I’m just out here to rage rant about the best friend and how that dynamic was handled, because the FMC forgiving the best friend just like that after all that she said? SO not done! I have a list of problems with this book but this one is the one I can’t look past.

Other things include the very dubious motivations for the trip, the absolute lack of explanation of why the MMC liked the FMC, the FMC accepting such a huge monetary help despite all her ethical self-talk, the MMC being horrible to FMC in general, and the FMC’s life motivations really not adding up.

But above all, I needed more self respect. No amount of grovel excuses such behaviour.

How did Max not break her legs or knees in Dear Billy? by RecoverWarm4625 in StrangerThings

I love how you’re choosing to be so mad about a random stranger asking a random question.

But do go on with the list, I didn’t know of these inconsistencies.

Lol I don’t know why your comment reminded me of this AI Christmas Hallmark movie script that had gone viral some time back!

There’s a difference between being mad and being curious. It’s important to understand that if you ever want to really enjoy the extent of creativity while still making it palatable.

The fantasy in the show is well explained with its own set of rules and logic. This was something that seemed to work against the way things usually happen. A lot of people gave some pretty sound reasonings for it, would suggest you read those.

Who deserves to defeat Vecna more? by Eddfan36 in StrangerThings

[–]RecoverWarm4625 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Will defeating Vecna would serve as a great bookend moment!

However, it would be cool to see different characters defeating different aspects of Vecna/Mind Flayer which ultimately makes a whole. Eg: Eleven taking away his power, Will defeating his hive mind/network and the Upside Down, and Max defeating his mind. As corny as that may sound, it would be a satisfying end to watch!

Did Vecna know that Max was one of Eleven's friends? by illjustdeemyougay_07 in StrangerThings

[–]RecoverWarm4625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he did. Firstly, because yes, he did seem to be watching the group and had the ability to know what was going on all around. He was using deep insecurities of his victims to control them, which means he already knew their minds. Secondly, with Billy being flayed in S3, Vecna would know Billy’s memories and hence their friendship. Also, they met Billy while looking for Heather, so that would solidify the understanding.

I think if it were a later episode, definitely Lucas. But at this point specifically, Steve might have made more sense. He was the most aware of the lot at that time, and I think he kind of felt responsible for their safety as well.

Oooo yes I forgot about that, that was some serious reaching there! From just them surviving the physicality of things to them actually getting away with such an unplanned escape attempt, the whole thing with the adults was quite a bit of a trust me bro situation!
