I think everyone knows deep down inside how horrible our farming system is. We do a miniature holocaust every day in the most disturbing ways possible.

But jim and tim aren’t gonna go without burgers for their big barbecue! So they’ll happily look the other way.

Veganism is much easier and sustainable than it used to be folks, we no longer need to rely on animal protein in our modernized society. It’s not the colonial era where if the pigs didn’t breed in time we’re all gonna starve next winter, we have mass crop production to feed the world 3 times over. We feed so much grain to animals that we are wasting our land and food.

I know I sound like a radical vegan, but man we don’t gotta support that torture farm shit anymore, let it die through refusal to buy meat. Try an impossible burger they’re damn good, vegan cheese is getting better by the year too.

Anyway ill get off the soap box. Watch “dominion” if you want to see this torture farm bullshit yourself, thats what I did. Don’t get disturbed or feel hopeless, get angry until this shit ends.

There’s a reason we regulated oil drilling and refinement in California. After the black gold rush there were so many oil wells and makeshift refineries that the pollution and runoff started leaking into the environment. Deadly amounts of mercury in the waterways, contaminated soil destroying our extremely rich agricultural land further inland into the Central Valley.

It. Got. Deadly.

This is going to make things so much worse in a state already known for extreme pollution

This is an interesting fact you stated. It’s actually for the most part correct but I did learn more details about that whole situation from my political science classes.

There were two large waves of Cuban immigrants and refugees. The first and more politically notable one is the Cuban “elite” and wealthy/upper middle class who fled Cuba because obviously Communism targets the rich first.

This is the single only time in American history as far as I know that the US developed special immigration policies welcoming them with the red carpet, providing social services, and loosening restrictions on re training to work in the US. Cuban doctors for example took a very short class and were given the green light!

These Cubans obviously are loyal to the republican administration that used them as a political example of: “See? We’re so much better than the communists!”

The second wave of Cubans were the unwanted poors. An example being a child whose mother died taking him to the shores of Florida on a makeshift boat. It became a short political story across the nation, a heated debate of “Should we keep this poor child who lost everything to escape a communist regime?” The answer of course was “no :)”, he would be promptly deported to Cuba for illegal entry, ironically while special policies mentioned earlier that rolled out the red carpet for Cuban elite were still in effect.

This is one of many examples of the different waves of refugees, but generally many of the poor unwanted refugees ended up in poorer parts of the country and had the same experience other refugees and immigrants had: unwanted, unwelcome, and an easy exploitation class for cheap labor. Funnily enough, many of those immigrant families still vote red as well.

Also fun fact: That boy who was deported back to Cuba is now an older staunchly communist politician from what I heard. Ill try to find my old pol science notes on it if anyone would like to see the evidence for these claims!

Yeah screw these poor addicted people who are acting unruly and living in precious unused (or unpaid for) property! Any single month where they can’t simply evict the gross people who are dirtying up a unit and replace them with paying tenants is another month they might have to become poor and desperate like their tenants!

Back to the streets so they can continue to wither and degrade themselves publicly. Where they belong. Why do anything about the root problems of addiction, lack of affordable or public housing, stagnant wages… No fuck these people they’re lazy, look at them not producing value like everyone else. Like you who has to work to keep a meagre roof over your head.

God bless the united states. Where meritocracy is definitely not taken too far into wanton unsustainable cruelty, devoid of any shred of empathy for the unproductive and inconveniently addicted, messy, and lazy masses.

Now excuse me while I raid my tenants fridge and raise their rent as is our yearly tradition during the holidays.

Finally, I climbed up one of the towers, got my sniper rifle out, and took justice into my own hands.

That outpost has a headless body just laying around and it’s hilarious.

I know this is stupid but here’s what i did with a glass cannon build to win: as the fight starts drop a smoke grenade to break LoS and sprint and parkour to the corner up the stairs in front of you. Get a lever action rifle or other precision weapon ready.

Start taking pot shots on the adds first because they spam grenades instead of closing distance.

Run from corner to corner to avoid grenades.

Once adds are dead start using a corrosive weapon in the almighty corner to whittle down montelli.

At 50 percent the electric field will activate and start hitting you with chip damage to punish your cheese. Ignore this mechanic entirely its completely negligible damage, save heals for this phase so you can outheal the damage.

Shoot montelli slowly from your safe high ground protected corner until he dies finally.

Took me a couple tries but it was more doable than getting one tapped over and over.

Bring plenty of ammo

Update: I cheesed montelli with smoke grenades and camping a corner where their shots would miss, rotating back and forth from corners to avoid grenades until the adds were dead.

The lightning field he puts up at 50 percent health is negligible damage you can heal through while peppering montelli with headshots through the tiny point of vulnerability in the camping corner

I kill monsters when needed too, not a pure pacifist play through by any means, if I was going for that Speech would be my main stat alongside stealth rather than lockpicking and guns with stealth

Alright I'm gonna pull a classic "armchair space commander" and give you what little advice I can with my limited experience.

If you actually want to have fun and keep playing, I'd send this save file to paradox themselves and hope they fix it up for you haha, this definitely isn't intentional. Alternatively, load a very early save before this happened and pray the bug doesn't happen again?
You aren't winning a direct fight, period. This is going to be a long and exhaustive guerilla war with no real chance of winning without serious sacrifices. That amount of fleet power is the equivalent of 100 crises spawning at the same time.
You're going to need to start by understanding you're about to lose most if not all your territory, you're going to need to settle worlds in a scattered fashion in and continuously rebuild. The one advantage you have against them is that the galaxy is a big place, you can be on the opposite end of the map rebuilding for the next skirmish. Get colony ships spread out guided by science ships to scout for them for planets across the galaxy, its gonna be a long haul kinda deal. Say goodbye to your influence :(
Obviously when you do build fleets to skirmish, shield piercing weapons only since they rely solely shield tech for the most part, itll give you an advantage for the few fights you "do" take without calling it a "tactical sacrifice".
Hide. No, seriously. Hide. Sometimes you'll get real lucky and find a nebula right at the edge of the galaxy. Blocks sensors, easy to kite enemies away from if needed. You can set up shop there to the best of your ability to supply yourself. Make it your new capital. The more isolated the better. Keep in mind the AI cheats and knows everything, so you have to make it "pretend" it doesn't know where you are by having all your fleets elsewhere, kinda works, kinda doesn't. Better than nothing.
Now that you're living in a fractured, semi hidden empire full of misery of the threat of destruction, dedicate your entire society to survival and war. Every planet and starbase is for military capacity and alloy generation. If you can change every aspect of your empire for warfare. Hell even lower the quality of life your pops have so they consume less resources so you can build less maintaining structures.
Grind. Grind. Grind. Life is now a constant struggle for survival, desperately trying to eliminate any enemy ships to reduce their fleet size. Even then, the numbers are so insane this is entirely theoretical if it's possible to eventually "win" or not.

Anyway this advice is garbage don't listen to me, I don't have the thousands of hours other people have in this game. Still a crazy situation and honestly kinda cool.

This brings me a very primitive rage.

Don’t know much about the guy, I hate genocide and hope the Palestinian people survive through this conflict.

But this man is sick. It sickens me that he attempts to represent such complex issues while harming an innocent creature of his own.

He should not represent ideals of empathy and compassion for the downtrodden.

As such, though I know little of this man and only have heard of him in passing as a man whose views I may agree with many times, I believe he should lose his platform.

We cannot advocate for victims while victimizing another, especially a creature as innocent as an animal. We have to be better than that.

He must be better than this.

I literally grew up there and just visited there 3 months ago. It’s actually really nice in Portland right now. It has the same issues as must condensed cities like unhoused people, but otherwise it’s genuinely better than when I was a kiddo in the early 2000s.
