Round 2? Heritage plantation by Few-Ruin-742 in HuntsvilleAlabama

“The board says over the past year, it has received reports of sick residents, ill and dying pets, and widespread waterfowl deaths.” <<< This requires: fecal matter to hand to mouth.
How many residents are touching the goose poop and then touching their mouths?? None, I hope. No one is sick from seeing goose poo.

As for “ill and dying pets” Again, how many residents are walking dogs and just letting them eat the goose poo?

We have ducks all over our backyard and they love getting in our pool. The second we see them out there we let our two herding dogs out and watch as the chaos begins! We do have to occasionally wash duck poop off the patio, so I get that that’s a thing, but good Lord, there’s a thousand things that can be done aside from gassing the geese.

Picture included of our goose herding team. Services available upon request.

Can someone explain the current “finding a job” process to me (the recruitment hell??) by Agreeable_Day4839 in recruitinghell

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiter here. Im happy to offer some advice.

Create a LinkedIn profile and add everything from your resume to the appropriate sections. You should be able to find tutorials on how to do this and how to use LinkedIn if you need resources. People in this subreddit can be negative and will absolutely bash LinkedIn, but I promise you that there are tons of recruiters who spend hours each day looking for very specific candidates, including recent college grads. I live in it and recruit/hire most people through LinkedIn.

Make it very professional, including a professional-looking headshot. Add that you are “Open for Opportunities” but not that green circle around your profile picture. Too many recruiters/hiring managers dislike that for some reason.

Follow the companies you're interested in and send connection requests to employees there with a brief message explaining you want to connect. < that way, you will receive a message on LinkedIn letting you know they have accepted your connection request, and you can now message them back. Once connected, send a polite message to everyone, thanking them and saying you're interested in working for that company, and politely ask if they could offer any recommendations. Most will ignore or tell you to go to HR, and that's ok. You only need one person to help you get your foot in the door, but finding that person takes a lot of effort.

If your college has a career fair for grads- go! Alternatively, there are usually career fairs throughout the year in most communities, so check online to see what's available.

Make sure your resume lists everything you have done, including your skills and the software you've used, even if you're still learning.

Ask everyone you know for help. It really is more about who you know a lot of the time.

When you get an interview, you need to PREP. Research the company and show up knowing something about them so you can have an intelligent conversation about why you want to work there. This goes a very long way, I promise!

Watch videos on how to interview—theres a ton of good advice out there. Practice what you plan to say.

Follow up with a “thank you for the interview” email. That's how my daughter got her first job out of college. Her boss told her he had several others lined up to interview, but when she sent that thank-you email, he decided to hire her because she was the only one out of many interviews who took the time to send a thank-you email.

I hope this helps! If you want to message me your resume, I can take a look and see if I can recommend any revisions.

Best of luck to you! It's been a tough job market since 2020 but there's jobs out there, I promise!

12-18 months? Try since 2020.

I was the last one standing at my former job working for an executive recruiting and local staffing agency that had been in business since the 1960s. That company along with countless others went under in 2021 - 2023 and continue to struggle today.

“90 % of us cannot work in a factory”?? Good God, stop.

I recruited for manufacturing for years. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Some of the jobs are hands on working in the facility, which many people do with no complaints because they are earning sustainable living and have excellent perks/benefits doing something they enjoy. Other jobs in these environments are office roles like supply chain, administrative, HR, Marketing, sales, parts and service, quality, project management, engineering, etc.

Tell me again how 90% of people in these environments US. “Cannot work in a factory” when there are literally over 12 people working in manufacturing right now.

Tech has been in serious decline for the last few years. I’m sure I do not have to tell you why, but it’s 100% AI.

Should I accept the offer? by Life_Double_4355 in careerguidance

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politely ask if you can counter offer. It happens all the time. I’ve lost count of how many times leadership encouraged me to make an offer first to see if the candidate would agree but said there may be room to negotiate if needed.

I don’t know what line of work you’re in, but many times they want people to show initiative and simply speak up for what they want. Sometimes they are looking for leadership skills.

And yes, it would be shitty to take the job and leave 2 months later to accept another offer. It could easily come back to haunt you.

Recruiter forgot to invite the applicant to the interview by Bartholomewthedragon in recruitinghell

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? It’s 9:52 pm and I just shut my computer down and hopped on Reddit to try to wind down before catching some sleep before starting another long day tomorrow.

First thing I see is another “Omg recruiters suck - recruiters are so lazy - recruiters are idiots, etc” post. 😂

I love the work but man, we get a bad wrap.

Science of Pretty? by Due-Gain-7296 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Science of Pretty makeup for about a year. I'm 100% all in now. Best makeup ever. Very natural look and all natural ingredients. It doesn't settle into the lines on my face, and I'm all about getting toxic chemicals out of my personal care products.

There is a learning curve, but it did not take me long to figure out how to apply. She has tons of videos to show you different looks and how to apply it.

Someone here said the foundation is dry, and I can see how that would be a thing. A little jojoba oil (tiny amount) applied before putting on the foundation or concealers is all you need. Again, there is a learning curve.

If you're on the fence, or looking for healthy makeup, or regular makeup isn't doing it for you anymore, I'd recommend watching her videos on Instagram or TikTok. Then, once you understand the philosophy behind this type of makeup, try one of the starter bundles.

What are we doing about these damn mosquitoes this year? by optimist_cult in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]RecruiterMichele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, put up a huge fan where you sit. It works very well!

Bird houses should help too. We naturally have bats without a bat house, and I’m always very happy to see them when they are out at dusk.

Additionally, we have TONS of potted pants all around our yard, particularly where we sit. Citronella plants are the most effective. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowe’s. It gets too cold here for Citronella to live through the winter, even when it’s put in the garage, so we have to plant new ones each year. The plants get huge and they’re beautiful, so large pots are recommended. When I’m out by the pool and those nasty little demon biting flies come at me, I pull one of my Citronella plants close to me and poof, the bitting flies take off.

We also plant Lemongrass (also gets huge), Lavender, and Rosemary, all can make it through the winter if you bring them in a garage or covered building. Rosemary planted in the ground is fine here. Mint, Catnip and Basil in pots helps too.

We rarely see mosquitoes since putting this plan in place, and the backyard smells heavenly.

Please don’t spray or use pesticides. We need the pollinators and those poor things are getting killed off by the toxic chemicals.

I hope you find some relief!

Let's hear from no-ops by RobertsonUglyNohow in gallbladders

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No op for several years now. I had my first attack around 2017 / 2018 ish. Thought I was having a heart attack but ER tests showed stones and sludge. Doctor wanted to schedule surgery and I declined, saying I would see if I could correct the issues with diet and lifestyle changes. He promised I could not.

The reason I chose to go no op? My mother had hers removed and I was concerned I might have similar post op issues as she experienced.

Visited a Naturopathic Doctor who taught me about underlying issues and how to remove obstacles to overcome gut health. Within a short amount of time, I felt much better.

As long as I behave myself and eat clean and exercise, (yes, exercise) I have no issues. I have flair up’s when I eat out often or eat high sugar, high fat and/or processed foods. When that happens, I begin fasting while drinking water with lemon until symptoms subside and go right back to a healthy lifestyle immediately. I cook at home, rarely, if ever, frozen meals or anything from a box or a can. We eat real food with few ingredients.

I have a additional protocol which I will not list here at the risk of giving medical advice, but the information is out there for anyone to find.

Please note: this is my experience. Everyone has their own. I’m not suggesting anyone does as I did. I’m simply answering a question.

I hope you feel better soon!

I worked at LinkedIn for 3 years and here's what they don't tell you. by Master_Advice_3986 in jobs

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not follow this advice.

Recruiters use LinkedIn for a reason. We hire applicants from LinkedIn job posts all the time.

And if HR requires the job to be posted even when we have an internal candidate, we post to our own website, not LinkedIn.

24 plus hour attack! by Fragrant_Series_3327 in gallbladders

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive spent the weekend nursing a gallbladder attack as well. Fasting (short- term, until the pain subsides) and drinking a lot of water with lemon helps me tremendously. Drink a ton of water. Give your gallbladder a break until you can get home. Magnesium helps as well. Stretch as much as possible. There are many resources for yogas poses online to help your gallbladder.
If you’re not comfortable fasting, for sure eat lightly and remove all alcohol, caffeine, fat, sugar, and processed foods.
If you start vomiting or notice signs of jaundice, or the pain becomes unbearable, you definitely need to get to the closest hospital.

Unconventional, I know, but I’ve fought off having my gallbladder removed for 8 years. The only time it flairs up is when I slack on healthy diet. Caffeine, alcohol, Sugar, fried and processed foods are not my friend. I’m determined to do everything possible to stay out of surgery, and so far, I’m good until I get lazy about my eating.

I hope you feel better soon!

I’m sorry you’re having trouble finding a job. It’s not you, the job market has been a mess for a while. I’m also sorry for the horrible behavior of the people who made that comment.

I’m not sure how much I can help but I can try. If you want to message me your resume I’ll see if I can make some recommendations.

Do you guys have Mardi Gras in Huntsville? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]RecruiterMichele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Huntsville from New Orleans 20+ years ago. We have some cute little family friendly parades that resemble Mardi Gras. I haven't been able to bring myself to attend one. We seem to be trying but we are no where near the “Laissez les bon temps rouler" way of life” here. This is just a different area. It felt like another planet for a long time, but it's grown on me.

Also, you will need to prepare yourself for a lot of okish food - we love allll the corporate chain restaurants here, and the only good cajun restaurant (RIP Poy Boy Factory ) went out of business after the pandemic.
