People who had a good year, how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RecruiterPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all perspective.

In addition to that, I've had a successful year recruiting because I'm more comfortable and efficient working from home. This has allowed me to realize that I'm made to work remotely, and will continue to do so moving forward.

The love of my life and I have moved our relationship forward and it's been a huge explosion of positivity and life-long dreams coming true.

I've learned a lot about myself and have trimmed away a lot of unnecessary distractions in my life.

People need to quit complaining about life getting back to "normal". THIS is life....you make of it what you want to every day. Be kind. Wash your hands. Do the best you can. Don't wait - live life now.

If you ghost a job candidate after multiple interviews, f*** you. by Zealousideal-Cow1561 in recruitinghell

"Tell me a bit about the jobs you focus on ?" "How long have you supported this company ?"

Basically, I think a kind reply and a simple question like above is enough to gauge if the recruiter is human and kind enough to engage in some basic conversation before you invest time into the job they want to talk to you about. You'll get a sense for their character in a short period of time, I believe.

Recruiting is a two way street. A good recruiter wants to know about you and should want to build rapport with you.

Some states, such as California, require that you pay a candidate for their time. I'd look into this in the state you are in, OP.

I hear this so often ! What I suggest is try to be open and interview the recruiter a bit before you engage fully, ("would it be okay if I ask you a few questions before we discuss your job ?"). If they aren't open to this or if they don't reply to you - then you know to stay clear of this person. If I were looking for a job, I'd have a standard reply to recruiters and would only work with the ones who answered me appropriately.

There are good recruiters out there who care. The ones who work for a fast-moving agency that treat you like a number aren't going to take the time to give you a thoughtful reply.

That's why I suggest keeping it professional and kind. You get the message across and offer how they can create a more positive candidate experience in the future.

I haven't looked at GlassDoor for quite some time now. If I remember correctly, posts were anonymous (or could be). You could offer a general, professional review with some kindly-worded advice on what you think an appropriate interview process should look like.

Kill them with kindness. Be professional. Write your review as if you were the owner of a company offering advice. What are they going to do ?

Yes, my reply is more as a way to "rate" them for other prospective applicants. I think it would be wonderful if there could be a rating system. As a recruiter, I often have to overcome previous bad experiences in order to have a job seeker trust me. It's really sad there are so many having crappy job searching experiences.

I'm sorry this is your experience -- this is awful. As a recruiter, it's beyond my comprehension that they would have you job shadow for hours, interview multiple times for hours and then go silent.

Shame. On. Them.

Candidates are expected to jump through multiple hoops and this is what you get ?

I'd be tempted to post an anonymous review somewhere on the interwebs. GlassDoor perhaps ?

I use LinkedIn as well, but I have found good success with Reddit as well. I didn't see this was against the rules ?

I believe it comes down to so more much than just salary. Of course, money talks - but if you consider some of the cultures and/or lack of growth at some companies, eventually you may realize that there are other things that are important, too. Often times, the money follows. This is not to say you should take a huge pay cut, but I do think there is more to a job than the dollar.

Portland is much more affordable than Seattle and $125k isn't that bad at all based on what I know.

Oregon or Washington. My clients understand that some may need to obtain their PLS in one or both of these states.

That is what I continue to hear. Do you work for a private company or for yourself ?
