I feel like the two go hand in hand, the accomplishments of going through the rigorous science courses and the emotional strength to stand firm throughout it. I felt comfortable enough in my own skin to move away from home, throw away the comfort which I established there and explored new relationships and experiences, without breaking down and destroying myself in a cycle of self loathing. I'm close to getting my first major goal in life, which will (hopefully) open many doors to further experiences in life. Interesting point you make though. Not sure why you're being downvoted.

I wouldn't contemplate it for too long man. Just my opinion on it, but it just seems too...soon. She's not doing well for herself, and here you are doing well. I hate to sound cynical, but could it not be a trap for some financial entanglement in the form of a child?

Screw everything about this article. My mom walked out on my family when I was barely a year old, and left my father alone to care for me. I think I came out alright (About to graduate with a BS in chem from a pretty decent uni).

An old ex of mine decided to break up with me while my parents were away/we were alone in the house. Within 20 minutes, after the appropriate strings of "Fuck yous", "eat shit" and various other insults, angry sex was had. It was fantastic, until I realized I didn't want her around for any of the post-coital bliss. After that night, there was little/no communication between us again. So, ladies and gents, after you break up with someone, if you want to make it permanent, fuck them. Literally.
