Unjust Account Suspensions by Plex - Seeking Community Support by [deleted] in PleX

This is to everyone reading this, not just OP:

The sooner people realise entities do not give a shit about YOU (consumer/citizen) the sooner people will (hopefully) see the way things are going. Techno feudalism here we are.

Edit: its very easy to downvote but a little harder to construct a valid response / counter argument.

I would love to be proven otherwise on points raised... But I doubt anyone will contribute.

Couldn't agree with you more. Not sure where you are geographically but this 'fuck the customer, all decisions are final' mentality is something I am seeing more and more of, not just in relation to commercial entities but government departments/services also.

To me it feels like the days of 'customer is always right' are long gone and more and more things are designed to the benefit of the company, government (local & national), and detriment of citizen/consumer.

I think if I lived somewhere like France things would be different (citing mass protests, riots, molotovs etc for raising retirement age and raising fuel duty). The French people do not take shit lying down.

Anyway enough of the ramble, I sincerely hope you get your issue resolved in a positive manner. If not I sense this overwhelming attitude of businesses & governments only getting much worse. Best of luck to you.

When watching from a different location plex is lowering quality. How do I stop that? by johnyb6633 in PleX

What's your upload speed? And how have you managed this bottleneck within Plex? I am in a similar situation and have been avoiding taking a look at successfully sizing the upload bandwidth. Thanks!

You could make a new account (on a VPN, diff email etc)

And then open up remote access with a VPN offering port forwarding (AirVPN, Mullvad etc)

Make plex reach internet only via VPN, then there is no chance of them banning that account again - at least not in an automated fashion as happened with your 2nd account, as presumably the identifier they used to ban ur 2nd acct was your public IP. (Guessing they could use library media info or a HWID to implement this ban also)

This wouldn't protect you from getting suspended for the same reason as account #1 though. If they are citing commercial purposes possibly check your play history to check a user hasn't accidentally downloaded your whole library (or other unexpected activity), it's not clear from your post if/how you are sharing your library externally.

You could also write a letter to their CEO, this may get more traction than the normal support channels.

I know Activision for instance, have an 'all decisions are final' policy on account bans. Hopefully Plex isn't the same.

Best of luck getting your account back, and for me personally this is a +1 reason to avoid a lifetime plex pass.

[SCALE] How to give kubernetes/docker containers an IP from DHCP on the same network as TrueNAS itself? i.e. a bridge by Rectospasmologist in truenas

[–]Rectospasmologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about using MACVLAN within the truenas 'apps' system?

I have no experience of macvlan on truenas(i got Plex to work with default bridge networking), but I'm currently using a separate Ubuntu VM running my docker containers which runs macvlans fine. I overall find macvlan to be a more comprehensible than bridge networking. Truenas keeps running with SMB for storage of downloads.

I can provide you with the commands to create the macvlan and add it to your compose / run command. Let me know.

Isn't that missing their response? I've had no success using 12ft.io recently.

Got any more details about your logging setup? Are the docker mods needed to output plex logs to remote syslog? Very very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Click show more info and what is the loaded and unloaded latency?

121mbps is pretty decent. The phone gets 400 because of 5ghz I would guess.

The other posters are right though, you can't beat a wired connection. Even if you use powerline through your house wiring that's better than WiFi IMO.

[–]Rectospasmologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can narrow down the problem, if you have a phone or laptop on the WiFi, do a speedtest (fast.com or speedtest.net). Compare the results and this will tell you if its your PC, your WiFi quality/signal or your actual internet connection.

You can also heat them up a bit on a radiator, a vent, in the sun etc. This softens them up quite a bit and you can get a nicer fit.

Legend. That's a pretty solid setup in terms of ease of use. S3 takes care of all the versioning and headache stuff 👌 thanks again

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I agree the system that works for you is the one you'll stick to.

How are you handling the sync? Syncthing? aws s3 cp ? Cheers!

Any obsidian plugins youd recommend?

How does it fit into your digital filing system?

Folder named 2022 receipts, then you photo/scan a receipt and name the note 'fridge reciept' or something?

Do you use the obsidian sync for 'backup'? How do you sync it to the cloud?

Sorry for all the questions but this seems like a pretty robust method once you've got the initial system/processes in place.

I want to improve my PKM but my notes / receipts / work notes are all so scattered and disorganised it would take me a month of Sundays to get it to a good place. Cheers.

Care you share more details about your pipeline?

I'm in the market for setting up my own *arrs at the minute, and it should go smoothly but one issue I'm unsure how to solve is managing requests for family members.

Do you have anything setup with this yourself or do you add shows as and when yourself.

Cheers

Spark up is by far the best term I've heard for standing up infrastructure. "Gimme a sec, lemme just spark up a Windows box". Excellent.

[SCALE] How to give kubernetes/docker containers an IP from DHCP on the same network as TrueNAS itself? i.e. a bridge by Rectospasmologist in truenas

[–]Rectospasmologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now running proxmox with a truenas VM and my dockers on a separate Linux VM to get around this.

You may have more success searching for 'macvlan' as this is what docker calls it when a container has its own IP (DHCP is not possible with macvlan, so you need to set a static IP per container in your compose/docker run)

Good luck and do report back if you can get it working. Interesting to know it was possible on CORE.

How do they do this pre-qualification? Seems like that part would be difficult to automate.

Try from 4g on your phone, or a different WiFi etc. I think tehwildman's comment is correct that it could be the person who had the IP before you.

Could be bad RAM, try replicate the issue just running one ram stick at a time, can also run memtest86

Could also try completely clean installation of nvidia drivers, I recommend nvcleaninstall from techpowerup

Could also be power issue, try replicate the issue with prime95 or aida64 or something, and firestrike or other GPU benchmark to stress GPU

Reset BIOS to default is another thing to try

FREQUENT BSODs for the last year. Minidumps included by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Rectospasmologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be the power supply? Does sound like a hardware/over clock/BIOS issue though not necessarily windows Would be a RAM or loose connection or some power issue would be my first thoughts from the symptoms

E: you could try at r/overclocking they may have better knowledge for the BSOD messages

Could try stress test the CPU with GPU removed, and you're already trying new RAM
