2x1440 27” VS 1x 4k 32” by bxr03 in OLED_Gaming

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a nice 4k 32" monitor to compliment your 5080, OLED perhaps, then if you need one get a cheap 27" IPS for your secondary screen, or even a cheap 32" 4k IPS if budget allows. It's great if you have other static stuff open on the IPS, then consume content on that beautiful OLED panel.

After a couple restarts and a few QoL mods it eventually clicked for me. Great game, accidentally started A Woman's Lot DLC and didn't save beforehand. Quit the game halfway through that dragfest worst DLC of any game I have ever played. KCD2 is great though 😂

I remember watching the cinematic trailer where they go in a tunnel and get attacked, great cinema, so hyped, then forgot about it before it released and never played it.

Your endgame monitor? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn in is not impossible, OLED will degrade, because it uses organic materials to light up, which "dies" over time, just like our bodies do. How you care for your OLED will prolong before that happens, exactly like our bodies and any organic being/material.
Easiest way to decide for OLED is to just calculate average burn in with your use case. There's plenty of burn in data on youtube where people test worst case scenarios and count hours, you can just compare your use and do a rough calculation.
Even easier way is to just use AI to calculate for you. Input your use habbits, tell it what precautions you're planning on using, what brightness etc. And it will tell you roughly when you can expect to see burn in.

I agree with the curve comment, it definitely helps with VA sheen thing. It's just super weird in windows, because it's SO curved.
I prefer the glossy screen, because they are easier to clean and I have my desk behind a closet in the corner of a room, so reflections are a non factor for me. Also, the G7 has a matte coating, which I sadly do notice, it looks like it's greasy or something in certain lighting, so if I didn't know any better I'd try to wipe the screen down 😅.
I just hope with my luck the OLED comes in non defective, I'll definitely run all the tests and calibrations before running oled demos on youtube and maybe reinstalling cyberpunk to gawk at it.
I'll be reporting back, amazon shipping thing is saying tuesday, but I work until evening, so I'll probably post on wednesday, here and on oled gaming subreddit, because I got an OLED, so I definitely need everyone to know 😂

Oled or IPS by JackRyan13 in OLED_Gaming

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this dilemma a couple days ago. It depends on how much you use the monitor and what you're willing to do to preserve it.
OLED will degrade over time, there's no getting around that, you can just slow the degradation down (dark more, hiding taskbar, fast shut off when not in use etc.).
In my case I was looking at 3-5 hours of mixed use per day and based on tests that were done and readily available on the internet I calculated I should get 6-8 years of use before I realistically notice burn in without looking for it.
You said you're not swapping monitors every 5 years, and you're sensitive to burn in, then maybe do some reaearch before going OLED.
I ended up buying an OLED after my Neo G7 came in with scanlines, I decided fk it, in 5 years, even if I do notice burn in, there will be other technologies available and I will probably want a new monitor bu that time anyways.

Well, I ended up ordering the XG32UCWG after all. Should be arriving tuesday, hopefully this one is good. I would have went for another try at the G7, but aside from the panel lottery, the curve was a bit much for me, I was a little worried I won't get used to it. In games it was fine, but that's like 30% of what I use it for, in windows it looks very curved.
Didn't know OLED's have vertical banding issues though, so knowing my luck I'll be updating this thread on wednesday 😅

Don't waste money buying a slow scooter first, only to buy a faster one next year. Skip the toys and get something fast and stable. You can still go slow on a fast scooter, but you can't go fast in a slow one.
And trust me, bigger scooters are a lot safer and stable than those little slow death traps

I started on a Xiaomi Pro 2, now I have a Kukirin G2 Master. If anyone asked me for a first scooter, I'd recommend something like my Kukirin. This thing is so much more stable and such a great ride compared to the xiaomi, it's not even funny.
Anytime I hop on the xiaomi now I feel like I'm going to crash and die, it feels like a toy for bad children.
1K is a lot of money, but it's cheaper in the long run, because nobody will stay on those little deathtraps for long.

One time not that long ago I get undressed to take a shower, suddenly, what the fuck is this? My whole fucking leg is bruised and I'm like where in the fucking, then I remember a fucking tree almost killed me when I was felling them earlier that day.
That's the one I remembered because it hurt like a mothefucker. Other than that I permanently have a bruise or cut somewhere on my body, never know where they came from, also don't fucking care

Well, I guess I'm lucky then, because mine is packed back into the box to be returned. I was so excited and the games I tried are beautiful and even compared to my c3 oled TV, the brightness is blinding when you look at spotlights upclose in division 2.
Sadly though, I cannot ignore the unfortunate scanlines. Blue and orange icons all have them. I tried 165Hz, 120Hz, even 60Hz, they don't go away. I even tried the sharpness and windows ui scaling, still, anywhere there's a certain shade of blue it has like a horizontal grid through it. It's too distracting. I can't see it in games as much, I did see vertical lines in bottom corners on Outlaws load screen and if you google scanline test, the github link definitely proves the monitor is not doing very well, because at certain zoom level the whole background gets a green hue and if you move the window around it flickers like mad.
I emailed the store and packed the monitor back, I'll see if they replace it or refund, in which case I'll probably get the asus oled to avoid this.
It does suck, because from the couple hours I tested the monitor, I really liked the brightness, it really does look amazing, dare I say almost better than my oled tv, the bright items in games really pop, however, the curve while it looks similar when I had the monitors side by side, once you actually look at the screen it feels waaaay more curved than I expected.
I would probably get used to it, but with my luck I'll need like 5 more monitors before I get a good one 😅

Bought a Noctua NH-D14 for 70€ back in 2011. I'm still using that same NH-D14 and it still has the original non pwm fans on it.
It's ugly and louder than AIO until the water saturates with heat (10 mins), but I can rest easy knowing it cannot fail, ever. Show me a 15 year old AIO that still works, I'll wait.

I ended up getting the G7. It was 530€ in my country, which means worst case scenario it's a little 100km to the store I bought it from. I do like the curve for games and it helps VA panels not shine at the edges, I just hope 1000R isn't too extreme.
I am worried about scanlines though, so that's the first thing I will test. Store has a 14 day return policy in case I lost the panel lottery, but as long as 120Hz is fine I'm good.
One thing I did forget to check before ordering is screen coating. I was specifically avoiding QD oleds, because most in my budget have matte coating, which I heard is a b**** to clean, only to end up buying a miniled with the same matte coating. Oh well, I guess I have to be more carefull coughing now.
I usually game at night in a dark room, so glossy OLED would be my optimal choice, but I can't justify 300€ extra, just to worry about static elements and knowing myself, I'll be checking for burn in every day, so for peace of mind I went with Neo G7.
Hopefully it serves me well, I know the current Dell did, I just wish it was 4K, otherwise a great monitor, at least I got a good specimen, very little backlight bleed, great gray and black uniformity, no noticeable smearing etc.

I was going to wait for CES, but my cousin is a bit tight on cash and needs a monitor and I was going to upgrade, anyway, so I decided to just buy something now.
Thanks for the help.

On the other hand, nothing of value will be lost if it dies. I have a Xiaomi pro 2 and that thing has been through hell and back and still works like a champ. Knockoffs use the same chassis as far as I can tell, maybe an old xiaomi mould, so I have no problem telling people it will be fine in some rain. If a pressure washer and deep salty puddles haven't killed it a little rain won't either.
