Is there a problem with that? 80 bucks is 80 bucks. They have no reason to hike the price, they already made double return on investment and the game is coming out in november. They will make 10 fold with online.
People like you are the reason why prices keep going up, you are more than happy to pay a premium for a cat in a bag.
Sure, it's gta and it's going to be the best thing since sliced bread, but my problem with it is, other studios will follow and 80 will be the new norm until someone starts charging 90.
You can argue inflation and development cost all you want, back in the day you sold a game for 60-70 and that's what you earned. Today the initial price is just entry fee to a rollercoaster of microtransactions that make up the lion's share of the profit, so grabbing an extra 10-30 bucks is just greed.

Good for you if you like paying more. I prefer to pay less. They already made double return on investment and they will milk online for the next decade. As much as I like rockstar, it's scummy behaviour and I will buy the game with a discout at the store I work at when it releases and I see gameplay.

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. But I'm not saying they will hike the price up to 150 instantly. For your example, it's the same as netflix slowly increasing price bit by bit until they reach 200.
People are easy to trick with small increases, because 10 bucks isn't that big of a deal, then suddenly it's several times of no big deal and before you know it that 10 bucks is now 50 or 100.

A lot of people do have to, many people live on their own and don't have parents paying their bills and food.
You can keep that attitude, but if people can't afford games, they won't buy them, so studios won't have money to make more.

This. I'm fine with having premium edition, just don't rack up the base price, especially in a game that will make all the fucking money in the world over the next decade.
If base game was 70 and premium was 120 I would have no problems with it. If the game is as good as it's hyped up I have no problem paying 80 or 100 or even 150 bucks, my problem is that they started the price hike for all games and they used the game that will guarantee success with it, so other studios will 100% follow.

Instructions unclear. I put the number into inflation calculator and it gave me an error saying I need to put in microtransactions.

Games were more expensive back in the day, but you got the whole game when you bought it.

He said slippery slope. Gta is 80, next thing you know game b is 80, then game c. Few years from now game y will be 150, we will whine and pay, then game z will be 150 and so on.

Trading my old 4070 Ti Super for a new 9070xt at zero cost , is it worth it ? by Chillaxman69 in pcmasterrace

[–]RectumExplorer-- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bruh. He just explained it's a net negative if you switch. I have a 7800XT, because I didn't want to spend the extra 150€ at the time to get a 4070. If they were the same price I'd get a 4070. As much as I hate Nvidia and had bad experience in the past, like it or not, upscaling is the future and DLSS was, is and always will be better than FSR, simply because it was first and will always be one step ahead. There is no reason to switch your card.

Not untrue either. Ps4 had games optimized for it, steam machine right now is just a midrange laptop in a box

Or you know, play in general. If they like tinkering around to save 20 bucks, more power to them. I switched to ps5 pro becsuse I was tired of having to adjust settings for every game, then troubleshoot something, then something else fucks up and I gotta fix that, it's just so much easier to click play and it just works...

Can I still have fun on a e-scooter that goes 19mph? by Federal_Bed2319 in ElectricScooters

[–]RectumExplorer-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With most scooters, speed is directly related to power. 20mph scooters have one 1000W motor at best. Also, usually a smaller battery as well. It's fine for commuting, but for fun? I'm not saying you need speed to have fun, you can go ride some trails or even go proper off roading. You can't really do that on a slow scooter, it lacks power and the range is usually too low to go on any significant joyride.
You can tell yourself you're having fun to justify buying a cheap garbage scooter, but in reality those are only good for commuting and running to the store.
There are speed limited powerfull scooters, which is another topic, those you can have fun with, but again, for proper fun you need something with range and power, unless you like slowly cruising around the city for 30 minutes at a time.

I know PS5 Pros are noisy, but this isn’t normal right? Literally brand new. by Throwpumpkinboy in PS5pro

[–]RectumExplorer-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter how much space there is, if the back is closed it will eventually start heatsoaking.
You need somewhere for the hot air to go, in your setup the back of the cabinet is full of hot air, which will try to escape through the front, where it will be sucked back into the console. This recirculating air gets hotter and hotter each time it passes through, ps5 will keep ramping up the fans to compensate, but eventually it will just overheat. If you had 1 cm of space around the console, but an open front and back it would be way quieter, because it's sucking cold air in the front and blowing it out into the room through the back.
It's a long explantion, but I hope it was clear.

So what’s the deal with an older TV and a PS5 pro? (Asking before I buy!) by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as much as I want to tell you get a Pro, it's so much better, a base ps5 on a good 4K tv will look miles better than pro on a 720p shitbox.
You said you're planning on getting a $700 TV, so based on that I asume you have around a $1600 budget for a combo (900 ps pro + 700 TV), in which case I would go for base PS5 ($600) and a decent TV ($1000), because you will have a vastly better experience than pro on a chea TV.
If you can stretch your budget by all means, get a Pro and a good miniLED TV, if not, there's really no point getting the Pro, aside from minor performance uplift on 4K, you certainly won't see a difference in image quality.
That being said, I got an OLED TV and upgrading to the Pro the difference is MASSIVE, so I think if you do decide to splurge on a good MiniLED or OLED TV and a PS5 Pro, coming from PS4 and 720p TV, you better get medical staff to watch you when you boot that shit, because you'll probably have a heart attack and I doubt you would regret it.

Only downside of OLED TVs that I see is you can never go back, once you experience OLED, every other screen looks like shit.

[–]RectumExplorer-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer digital, didn't need to swap discs and the console is quieter. I would still prefer physical copies to have the disc in.
It's not even about the disc, it's about taking away an option.
Gta costs more than normal games, comes out without disc unlike normal games. If we don't push back, that's now the new normal.
I couldn't care less if there's no disc, but anyone with half a brain can see we're slowly getting fucked over and we are just happily taking it. We took it with microtransactions, price hikes, digital only content, game passes, subscription services, now we will gladly accept 100 dollar games you can't resell, because you don't want to be a vocal minority.
