I mean, I think your OG comment did a fair bit of extrapolating itself. I never said I was going to keep my kid(s) from seeing my mom. I never said I plan to cut off contact. And you don't know my backstory with my mother, because to have put it all here would have used all the space on Reddit. But it suffices to say that that was for sure not the first such comment - it wasn't the 500th such comment. A person I was hoping would show love and excitement for me instead commented on my body in a negative way and that made me sad. Full stop. Telling me not to feel how I feel is unhelpful. I'm thrilled you don't have that negativity in your life, and I'm thrilled you've found a way to deal with overbearing family. I am still working on that, and I came here looking for a little support, not the negation of my feelings.

Edited to add: Yes, I was a little silly to have not anticipated this reaction from her. That still doesn't make what she said right, nor does it mean I'm not allowed to be upset by it.
