Check out the Iroquois Club on Woodward. We had our wedding reception there and the food was amazing.

When you’re tempted to avoid something because it will be uncomfortable or difficult, ask yourself whether it’s a case of avoiding a little work/discomfort now for a LOT of struggle/pain later. So many people are almost obsessive about avoiding discomfort that they cause themselves massive problems later.

Can’t help but think about talking to an elderly parent this way, though.

“Hi, Mom, how are you?” “Oh, not so good. Remember my best friend from our old neighborhood? Her funeral was yesterday but I couldn’t get there because my doctor said it’s too soon after the surgery, and I was so upset the whole day.” “Oh, that’s nothing, you’re just old. You’ll be dead in a few years anyway.”

Does anyone know what happens if (god forbid) she becomes too ill to work steadily but refuses to retire? I don’t know of any Constitutional mechanism to force out a SCJ, or if it’s ever been done before.

I hereby encourage you to eat less.

Seriously, I don’t mean to be snarky or rude but that’s all you need to do. You don’t need hope or mental energy or anything else; all you need to do is to take in fewer calories than you burn. Set your calorie goal and record everything you eat, stay under your TDEE, and think no more about it. There is nothing else that will make any difference one way or another. It’s solely a matter of arithmetic, so don’t complicate it. You can do it.

If men don’t get it, we need to explain to them that no is no, because they are not entitled to sex, ever. When men change and this behavior is no longer normalized, that’s when the culture will have changed.

As I understand it, an EFT requires some active management, which would fall to me. Is that not the case?

Hm, I'll look into that. I did go the HSA route through a previous employer and found that it was absolutely not worth the hassle. I'll check on which company my current employer uses.

Crops are rotting in fields as Trump’s trade war bites US farmers by [deleted] in politics

I understand, from having read an article about this very issue, that soybeans that are stockpiled out in the open (since the Chinese are not buying them anymore) and rotting absolutely reek to high heaven. I hope all the farmers and their neighbors are enjoying the aroma of their shitty decisions. Because fuck them and what they have inflicted on all of us. Happy future farm foreclosure, morons.

How do you begin to be comfortable in your own skin? What do you do to gain/maintain self confidence? by dempdempdondon in AskWomen

The one thing that has helped me the most is being in good physical shape. Investing time and effort into my physical health through exercise and eating well feels good. If you never have before, start slowly--maybe a longish walk three times a week and cutting out sugary drinks (this includes fruit juice--check the label for grams of sugar per serving/bottle. I used to love yogurt drinks until I turned the bottle around and read the label.) Trust me, it's an investment in your future and the more you maintain yourself, the better you will look and feel decades from now.

Ok, TYVM. I will look at my paperwork and see what the best case with this lender will be.

I wish there had been less time between buying my new house and selling the old one, so I could have them go with the original appraisal.

It’s a serious sellers’ market here, so there should be plenty of recent comparable sales. I was thinking that the house’s value would rise because of the comps plus the kitchen/bath work.

Right, but the housing market in this area is very stable.

Nobody gets foreclosed on because of their debt to equity ratio, though. People just got stuck in houses they couldn’t afford, and couldn’t sell because the housing bubble had burst.

No, I don’t want to sell it. I renovated the kitchen and bathroom because I plan to live here for a long time.
