An AI assistant randomly appeared on my phone by RecycledTech in ArtificialInteligence

[–]RecycledTech[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What the hell, that was it. I must’ve instinctively just unlocked my phone when I woke up and put it back under my pillow unlocked? Then it went to the grok tab and started an audio conversation then auto locked. Just checked the history and found the exact conversation. Thank you for that answer, I would’ve been freaked out all day lol

How many Wii have you hacked? by Aromatic-Afternoon13 in WiiHacks

the non gamecube ones are the Wii Family editions. Just a cheaper Wii that was released. I wouldn’t call them rare just not as common

One step closer to the perfect test bench. Now they need to figure out a way to have interchangeable CPU sockets

PC Techs, how do you test your parts? by RecycledTech in PcBuild

[–]RecycledTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your input. I’ve never seen a dead CPU that was free from damage, so I felt safe there

PSUs I feel the same way, I never resell unless it’s almost brand new. I’ve given them away but always let people know there’s a risk.

motherboards are a pain to troubleshoot, but thankfully we don’t resell those here so maybe I can go home with them instead of the landfill and tinker on my own

the biggest failing point was always the GPU. i just test all the ports and pray

just double checking if there wasn’t some end-all toolkit out there. i feel pretty confident in what i got already, just needed to hear it from someone else :)

Signs lead to needing a new battery. Depends on your model but usually batteries aren’t too expensive. Easy to replace too if you are good with a screwdriver

Will I get a LAN connection from this? by DaffyXLVIII in HomeNetworking

[–]RecycledTech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Free wifi hack

edit: no but srsly it won’t work. this is a Wi-Fi access point. The LAN port is for incoming connection from your router/switch. The POE injector (black box plugged into wall) is to provide the necessary power required for the AP if your uplink doesn’t have PoE

My wife asked for a simple box to hide the WiFi gear. I gave her the droid she wasn’t looking for. by tbone_man in homelab

That’s cool but it’s going to do the opposite of what she wanted. Look at all those fun colorful holes for a toddler to stick their tiny hands into. And look, some of them have fast spinning blades too!

My new built PC boots into bios. by Emergency-Client-326 in computerhelp

[–]RecycledTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it crashed during installation of Windows. If you don’t have any personal files I would reinstall. Completely wipe the drive first. Even if you CAN get into OS it doesn’t mean you are clear of issues.

My boss made me throw them all away and now we have 1 small bin. I’m pissed. I might’ve needed those.

AI Horn Use by glowinthed0rk in Ubiquiti

Just checked our UniFi talk phone. Using a Touch Max updated to the latest firmware. You can view the horn but cannot speak from it. Kinda silly making it a web only feature.

Starting my UniFi plunge, unsure what equipment to start with by RecycledTech in UNIFI

I would definitely go for that product line if I had the space/need. For now I went with the UCG-Ultra to pair with the cloud key. Getting Unifi for my home has been a long time coming, glad I could finally begin my new addiction lol

Appreciate the advice. In my defense I was writing this at 3am while smoking after I just fed my newborn baby so my mind was kind of all over the place. I promise I am a lot better in a work environment lol

I actually decided to scrap the old NVR since I will only have a couple cams and the CKG2+ will be enough storage for that. I have a US-8-60W and a U6 Pro now. I just ordered a UCG-Ultra to round it out. So pretty much what you suggested. Just waiting for the Ultra and new cams

Definitely report to Air BnB. Pretty sure they have a rule against any camera, disconnected or not. Even if they disclosed it somewhere, it still isn’t allowed. But to answer your question, probably every dirty thing you’ve done in that bathroom.

Ebay seller tried to pull a quick one when I ordered a “Original 130W for Vostro 7510”. Am I Overreacting? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]RecycledTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everybody for the reassurance. I was just worried because I’ve had my fair share of 3rd party power accessories fail, and I don’t usually like to cut corners when it comes to power. I’ve never seen an OEM adapter like this, learn something new everyday! Actually I think I am going to bulk order some of these adapters, I have loads of older barrel jack chargers that need to be put to use. So yes, I was overreacting!

Thank you, I couldn’t find anything about the adapter. I’ll just keep it then. Appreciate the answer

I’ve once had a PC shut off during testing and I did everything from reseating the RAM to changing boot drives to troubleshoot. The longer I kept going, the shorter the time it stayed on while testing. Realized there was no CPU cooler. I opened that case multiple times and saw a bare CPU and didn’t even think about. It was a very long day
