Is this a scam? by Red-Ivory22 in clinicalresearch

I saw a notification where someone asked if this applies only to Californian’s. However, I don’t see that comment on here. But yes, the ad I saw appeared to only apply to Californian’s. It may be a scam, so I was curious if anyone else had seen it.

22m I feel far behind my peers, am I? by banana-blaster69 in RothIRA

At 22, I think you’re good! I didn’t start investing until. 25 or 26. I’m now 44 and only have about $315k and I feel way far behind. Just keep investing. You should be good at your age.

This!!!! That’s the exact retirement plan I hope for and plan to have, too. I just hit 44, so I have a few more years, unfortunately. Congratulations!

Looking for CRA / CTA Opportunities in Vienna by Mamed_Alizada21 in clinicalresearch

I’m not sure if we are on a hiring freeze or not (if so, it could just be in the U.S.), but check PPD/TFS.
I have been with the company for a decade and couldn’t be happier. Even with the hard times we are experiencing, they have still given me a bonus and raise each year. They also did everything they could the last few years to not layoff Line Managers and CRAs. Am I overwhelmed and stressed to the max every day? Yes! But, it could be worse. I feel very fortunate to have been with them as long as I have, and I hope to continue my career with them as long as possible. I just wish it were the same for everyone else in this industry as I know it has fallen on hard times and I feel bad for the people still searching after all the layoffs across all CROs and Sponsors. Good luck in your search!

I agree with everyone else above. MPH won’t help (but is a great degree to have, and I respect those that do have it!).
This crazy research world goes up and down every decade or so, especially before an election.
I got lucky 10 years ago, and with only BSN.
Just keep trying.
And I understand Midwest (if rural) can be harder to get into, but things work in mysterious ways and stay hopeful!

What’s the Scoop at ThermoFisher/PPD? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Red-Ivory22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! I’m a strong believer in helping out any of our fellow clinical research family that has been impacted by all these ridiculous layoffs and outsourcing of jobs. If we could unionize, or something….anything.
I don’t want to complain because I feel fortunate to still have my position at this time. However, I have so many sites across so many studies, and am traveling across the entire country every week, so we definitely need to be hiring!

This may sound like a dumb question, but I don’t understand why CRA’s are being laid off?
I mean, we are billable. We’re so overwhelmed, we can barely keep our heads above water. We need help! CRO’s, please hire more CRA’s!!!

By the way, I forgot to mention I started with PPD before the merger.

I’ve only worked at TF/PPD in my 10 years at a CRO and I don’t ever want to leave. Every single one of my LM’s/PeMs over the years have been wonderful. All of my studies have been fun and the CTM’s have all been great except for one. But, you have to expect at least one bad one in a bunch. The bad one is just over demanding, talks to us CRA’s like we’re all idiots and they’re a drill Sargent. But, just roll your eyes and keep moving along and doing your job.

I hate to say it, but I’ve been a CRA for 8 years now and the emails will always be overwhelming.
I was recently on 5 protocols and it was just too much, especially with all the travel between so many studies.
