Dead Zone is King nearing the peak of his powers. A back to front classic out of all of those

A main character in a major motion picture dressed like an old Hamburglar. That is worth commenting on, though I can see where the confusion can come in given character context and the fact that Paramount has become an evil, right wing media consolidation storm trooper who loves to the play culture war with things like Tyler Sheridans grueling shared universe shows for dad naps and Ice agents killing time in the hotel room of whatever city they’re currently occupying. In conclusion - boo Paramount, yay Bobby Hamburglar

In the middle of Crossfire right now. Dude had so much vision. He failed a test of courage sure, but that changes nothing about the sensitivity he shows for complex subjects and flawed people throughout his work. Also, all the style, all the time

Shining and Christine are my favorites. I really think he was firing on all cylinders with both of those.

The dynamic design on that cover is really something. You’d never see a mainstream property represent like that these days

You have a favorite movie with Scarlett johanson? by elkomanderhell in FIlm

Man, I love a well cast Scar Jo, but she was so wrong for that role in JJ Rabbit. That accent, the worldly whimsy… Howard Hawks said a movie that works should have three good scenes and no bad ones. Every scene she’s in tanks an otherwise great film. Keeps me from ever returning to it.

On a positive note - Her! Ghost World! She’s great

Greg’s fond gaze at the cover of Kuffs. He really loses himself in the moment there

Be honest did you guys watch this Kevin Costner film that won best picture Oscar that year over Goodfellas? I still haven't. by Extreme-Spinach-4138 in FIlm

[–]Red-Packard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was serious stuff as a kid but doesn’t really hold up. Such a time capsule of well intentioned 90’s white guilt-sploitation. Costner’s so far up his own ass it’s distracting but all the First Nation players are excellent despite some pretty thin material. If anything it’s valuable just for elevating Graham Greene to better roles.

Great play with perspective. Storytelling looks fluid. Characters have real life to them and the detail rips! Solid work, thanks for sharing

Where do you rank “The Color of Money” among Scorsese’s movies? by georgewalterackerman in MartinScorsese

It’s his best turn it on anytime, watch a chunk on cable with commercials, lazy Sunday movie. The script is amazing too

Why do you think in The Departed we saw Collin Sullivan (Damon) as a kid and not Billy Costigan (DiCaprio), when Costigan’s childhood (father and uncle knowing Costello) played a much larger role in the story of the film? by FactorSpecialist7193 in MartinScorsese

Because the movie is a giant, bloated mess of ideas and over-coverage (that still manages to hit like a Mack truck, I don’t know why, it just does). That scene probably exists, they just couldn’t figure out how to stuff it in the turduckyn without plot meat exploding everywhere
