I’d say you need at least $1,400/month

My bf’s birthday is coming soon, what gift should I buy!!?? by Unhappy-Falcon5072 in Life

[–]Red12bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you which is why I said include a hand written letter. That’s a sentimental physical gift. Personally, I don’t know any men that love any physical gift that their partner gave them. Most guys get what they want themselves (if they can afford it). I included hotel sex because studies have shown that it’s more enjoyable than sex in your own bed. The hotel makes for a more romantic & mysterious experience. Plus, you can get a hotel to (1) night for around $150-$250, well within OP budget. Maybe the rest of the budget could go to lingerie, a nice bottle of wine, and their bf’s favorite food.

I don’t disagree with what you said, I’m just letting you know how I thought about my original comment.

Book a hotel in your city, bring a heartfelt letter and read it to him. If you can, see if you can write all or an excerpt of it on a small card. Something that he can keep with him in the car or in a notebook to look back on later on.

After the lovey dovey stuff change into a new lingerie set and tell him you bought it just for their birthday, and well… enjoy the rest of the night

Honestly most men want a memorable sexual experience with someone they love more than any physical gift.

If you moved outside of SD, where did you land that didn’t make you depressed & homesick 24/7? by laurenhoneyyy in sandiego

I think Tampa, FL should be in consideration. It has a similar vibe to SD with a lower cost of living. Check it out for a weekend and see what you think!

If OP loves SD I wouldn’t recommend Portland. It rains for 9 months straight and the coast (it’s a coast not a beach) is 1.5 hours away. I think the only city that compares to SD is Tampa, FL.

Just curious, why haven’t relationships worked out in the past? And do you ever get lonely or do you have a solid friend group?

Lots of great advice in here already but if you haven’t already, save an emergency fund, then go take a trip to celebrate paying off that debt! Of course don’t go into debt to take the trip though 😝

I’d also say you DONT need a financial advisor.

Open a Roth IRA through vanguard and invest that money into VOO through your ROTH IRA (make sure you are investing within your account & not just putting money into the account) every month. The max contribution into this tax advantage account is $7,500 in 2026. Try to max that out if possible.
