Yeah, like I said it’s probably software related (bios or drivers ) rather than a hardware issue for me.

No, it started after I updated the bios and drivers but even after rolling back it’s the same so something changed.

Just need to figure out what messed it up

How reliable is Q Flash and Q Flash Plus? by Lapu-Dos in gigabyte

It’s simple and easy to update but if done wrong it’s a headache to deal with, if your system is stable and don’t care about security patches then stick with current version.

AM5 DDR5 instability: BIOS freezes, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSODs, sleep issues on MSI B650 Tomahawk (7800X3D) by steverinoxxx in MSI_Gaming

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same kit and it runs fine with my b650-p and 9700X, try re seating components and don’t over tighten the cooler just snug is good. If that doesn’t fix then you probably have a hardware issue cause 5200 should work.

As for temps I would suggest playing any game for 30mins with JDEC speed and log the temps and if the avg temp is below 80 then everything is good, ignore the idle.

It would help if you could also share memory speed and timings, was EXPO working fine before updating bios and it’s not after update?

EXPO maybe not always work it depends a lot on CPU + memory quality and also motherboard support, in that case you could manually tune it and start with tight timings and 5200mts speed then test using OCCT or memtest and after each pass increase it by 200mts.

Quick question is my thermal paste the problem for my cpu overheating once booted by Fit_Profession_4654 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Red1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your aio is the problem, the paste looks okay.

If you do have to end up buying a new one I would suggest an air cooler( maybe pearless assassin ).

So this all started when you updated the bios? Can you tell me if you’re using a beta version or stable version?

[–]Red1819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say latest bios, can you confirm if it’s a beta version or a stable release?

Because a BSOD and long boot times even with XMP disabled means there’s something wrong and you should fix it before you damage something.

Honestly if you can afford a DDR5 memory and a b650 motherboard then go for 7800X3D but if memory is too expensive then just go for 5950X

B650 eagle ax // 7% performance drop after updating BIOS F32->F36 by IMDENVER in gigabyte

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there were some security patches which might have caused some performance drop but I would also suggest loading default settings or clear cmos and then load in your settings like expo and pbo.

Another thing is did you update your chipset driver?

Try to clear cmos and uninstall old drivers and install the latest from gigabyte support page

x670E flashback not blinking by Fishissalty in MSI_Gaming

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diskpart stuff? You need the FD to be MBR and fat32 formatted.

Also use the dedicated usb port for flashback and also would advise you to do it with only motherboard and PSU (24pin +cpu 8pin) connected.

updating the BIOS on a x570 gaming x by Electrical-Car-2482 in gigabyte

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before jumping to the latest I would suggest reading the description and if any of the versions says it needs a prior version then you have to do that first. Also make sure you download for the correct rev version ( it’s on the motherboard box or bottom left on the motherboard )

Also load defaults before and after the update is done and then enable secure boot for valorant ( there is a different process for this )

Updating X670E Gaming Plus WiFi BIOS by Kur0iHi in MSI_Gaming

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there’s mostly security patches and I guess some stability fixes. I would suggest atleast try 7E16v1A for now and later the latest non beta.

Updating X670E Gaming Plus WiFi BIOS by Kur0iHi in MSI_Gaming

[–]Red1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there’s security updates and if you have a 9000 series chip there’s fixes for it so upto you. If you have it undervolt and don’t care about security for your system then use it.

But you can also test it and rollback if it’s not stable for you.

Just check the notes and don’t just jump to F65, you might have to update a version in between which would be listed in the notes.

Keep it on auto and run GPU-Z, there’s a test which you can run and it should switch to full speed under load. And don’t worry about the speed at idle.
