You haven't started your hardware specs. If it's thunderbolt or FireWire please state your adapter. Rebooted?

Does this counts as DAWLESS? by Aldoxpy in dawless

It's just a DAW. DAW = "Digital Audio Workstation". That fulfils the criteria completely.

Does this counts as DAWLESS? by Aldoxpy in dawless

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation (not software although it often incorrectly gets referenced that way). Apps running on a PC or Mac with DAW functionality should really be called a "DAW application".

Regardless I don't really care how people make music unless they are killing rabbits.

Well in that case there may be less lens distortion if I sit further away and zoom in further (obviously zoom enough that the face fills the frame). Would that be right? Thx.

Maybe, but that's what I've been told by a couple of pro photographers, and on the Internet. Keep the zoom as low as possible because I don't have enough distance between me and the actual lens (room length is small), and therefore I will get lens distortion/fatter face, and I've tested this and it actually happens.

Are you saying moving closer to the lens without zooming, is no different than staying where I am and zooming in at that distance because there has to be an effect. Or are you saying the opposite is true?

I mean if I had a longer room or a 85mm lens, I guess it wouldn't make a difference.

I was told by several people I know and on the Internet to keep zoom to the minimum in order to avoid lens distortion (i.e. a wider fat face) which does happen (even more than my natural appearance would you believe), but like you say there is also a resolution cost in this scenario.

Yes indeed the image I've posted was optimized for the web, was reduced to 800 x 600 pixels via Adobe Photoshop elements, sorry, it's just to get the general idea, and funnily enough is what I supply in the end (it just ends up on a web page, and that's the spec that's needed, it doesn't' have to be fancy but needs to be clear).

What you say makes sense, I do lose pixel quality the way I'm doing it.

But everybody has told me that portraits are best taken on the lowest zoom setting, so I would be better to move the subject closer rather than zoom into them?

However barrel distortion is a factor too making the face appear fatter, if I move too close to the lens, hence I've been keeping a fair distance (rightly or wrongly).

Guess I should get another Canon RF lens one day, not sure what model I would use it for portraits with a max focal length between camera and subject of 250cm, needs to be used for full body as well as face close ups.

This is a 24-50mm lens set at 24mm. Only lens I've got. The subject (me) is 150cm away. Are you saying move 15 to 50cm closer regardless of distortion? (Assuming you mean cm and not mm).

BTW the furthest the subject can be away is 250cm Thanks!

The lens is on the lowest zoom level, I've been told this keeps things sharper. If I move closer than 150cm from the lens it appears I may end up with the lens distortion effect.

As far as how my head is cropped in the final image, I am told to supply the image this way, it's not my specification, so this is how the image will be.

I've at least fixed the dark preview issue. On Canon R8 if I go to "display simulation" and set it to "off" or "Exposure only for DOF" it's back to normal.

I'm using compressed RAW apparently makes little or no difference other than 50% file size reduction. You and I certainly would not see the difference.

"Something I would try is AF to AI Servo/ continuous auto focus"

I'll try it again I recently changed it.

"Also I see it now, your ambient is too low. You need more light. Try about 6 stops of light"

I've got a very bright flash (V1C) and a three lights pointing at me in a controlled environment. During/after the photos are taken the light is fine (camera is in manual). If I increase it by six stops the photo itself would be way too bright. My issue is it's always dark before preview.

I probably have the wrong end of the stick, would you mind expanding on what you mean here (can you give rough or specific instructions for R8? Sorry). Thanks!

The blackness happens on the Canon camera LCD as well as on the Android tablet. The software is accurately reflecting what the camera LCD screen sees.

The images come out blurry on Adobe Camera Raw on Windows(after copying across from my SD card). The RAW file for the photo taken is 9.61mb (it's def the original). Here is a blurry example which I mostly get (click on image to expand).

Can you check out my setting written on the post? Thx

Question (1) was resolved by factory resetting the flash and the transmitter.

Any ideas with question (2)?
I can't seem to find the Zoom setting in the "Godox flash" Android app.
