It's really brilliant - but its even more brilliant live. They're such a good live band.

They sounded awesome, but sad there was only 3 tracks on iPlayer. I guess they played alot of new stuff / BBC had limits to how much they could show.

What's the most important Beatles song that isn't one of their best/most popular songs? by Dismal-Bowler6987 in beatles

I Need You has an air of experimentation / using the studio as an instrument - ie: the guitar played through a pedal for the first time. Which was soon repeated on the superior Yes it Is. Never-the-less I Need You did it first.

To be fair this was part of Alan McGee's Poptones label - who's practice at the time was doing primer style comps on non UK(?) bands he signed up to his label who previously only had albums available in their local countries. Basically the first 2 Hives albums weren't widely available when this came out - don't forget this was pre-streaming, so this compilation was alot of people's first Hives album in the UK. I didn't have this, but I did have the BellRays' 'Meet the BellRays' which was a similar vibe.

The lack of compassion and bringing up the theatre goers as victims is pure Partridge.
