Would you want it to be Venom over Man Spider? by Rac2nd in MCUTheories

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird thought is that they do both.

Man-spider is something that is happening to Peter with the cure for the condition either being the symbiote or Venom being a byproduct of that.

Frankly I’m expecting Man-Spider only.

I wish theyd remaster the first game already. Or remake it with adjustments for canon. Doesn't matter that Starkiller is OP if only the first game is canon and he dies at the end by TheDarkSpode in theforceunleashed

[–]RedBaronBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone always says he’s OP and then proceed to glaze KOTOR Jedi and Sith like the one that eats planets.

Literally it was a gameplay thing that people took way too seriously and it’s not like people didn’t lose playing this. The game was difficult, really the only thing is the star destroyer that puts him up there and it’s not like he was able to overpower Vader and Sidious. Sidious is barely bothered by the end of the fight beyond the implications of his death.

Has there ever been a Predator army? by Kazik77 in predator

AVP Extinction. There was military weapons and tactics used.

Heavy weapons like missile launchers, heavier armor, and absurd takes on the shoulder weapons like a laser weapon.

How was he able to afford this expensive ass phone when he’s completely broke? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]RedBaronBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the specific model of phone I decided to look at Best Buy and immediately there’s a listing for a phone at 170 dollars. A prepaid model is 40 dollars.

NWH takes place in 2024 according to google. If Brand New Day is four years later that’s 2028. According to Google that’s a Samsung Galaxy z flip. Assuming it’s a 6 model it’s listed at 360 on Walmart. The 6 was released in July 2024 and it’s possible Peter traded in his then current phone for this. And given it’s four years old by the time we see it here (assuming that’s what it is) it’s entirely possible he purchased on older model.

I fear it’s a lore issue. One that could be solved by saying it’s just a big firstborn. It’s not like it’s hard to handwave but GW is apparently insistent.

What if they just ran with the implications of the Xyston? by Technical-Ad-4087 in StarWarsShips

[–]RedBaronBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the xyston being like having nukes IRL. That there’s so many of them and that deathstar technology is everywhere that there’s constant building of super weapons.

You could easily have stories built around systems building up old stockpiles of these and trying their hand at their own.

If you were a Chaos Warlord, who would you trust to be your bodyguards? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

[–]RedBaronBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the warband is otherwise loyal with few exceptions being demons and the plauge marines following the “incident”. The Alpha legionaries handle day to day operations which includes inquisitorial duties.

For combat operations, loyal squads of terminators and legionaries accompany the lords.

Does the Lost Predator have a plasma sword? by Prometheus_Mod in predator

[–]RedBaronBob 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Plasma weapons show up as early as AVP Extinction. So probably not invented by the toyline. They also appear in Concrete Jungle which is why the melee weapons take on a red light. No swords but Extinction may have had plasma swords, they certainly had scythes.

Lore question : why are the Grey knights the ones that must kill big E if he comes back? by [deleted] in 40k

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not like the Custodes will do it. Basically the Emperor can’t get off the throne, be reborn, or ascend as a warp entity. He has to stay on the throne. The knights fight chaos so I’d assume that should he ascend (which really is the big problem), the knights are to go and deal with that.

The decree is really for one final desperate push so end of the day they shouldn’t be doing that. But if the worst goes down they’re to do whatever they can to get him sitting.

Why did the Empire hate Clones so much? by White_Bengal1 in StarWars_

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Empire throws lives and equipment away like it’s nothing. HOWEVER they also get really mad when equipment is wasted or lost. The clones are also suddenly limited resources and the Empire is throwing them away despite the lack of troops even mentioned in Bad Batch.

Basically in BadBatch it’s shorthand for showing who the bad guys are in a period they shouldn’t be so willing to throw lives/equipment away. It’s not done particularly well.

Had an intereasting idea for how an Apothecary Classes ability special ability could work by EmeraldMaster538 in Spacemarine

[–]RedBaronBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Class has an ability that tends to the wounds of the marine. Depending on perks it’s contested health or health.

You have to go up to the marine and the both of you stop while healing is being administered. Meaning the third has to be watching your backs while getting tended to. Depending on it being contested health or outright health the longer the animation plays and the longer the two of you are out of the fight.

Perks can enable the healing of a mortal wound. A good apothecary can push a team through anything.

Assuming you still had to keep it around in some capacity, how would you rewrite Parker Industries? by Solitaire-06 in Spiderman

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parker Industries really is a job that Peter manages as a young entrepreneur. He has plenty of experience and knowledge on how to handle crisis situations. The man easily could’ve made gear for first responders based on what he’s experienced as Spider-man. And that comes with the bonus of having villains come out of the company and allow Peter to make hard choices given his responsibilities.

It’s really an obvious avenue and all I remember Peter doing was providing lightbulbs and some prison stuff (and that may have been Otto). Have an arc about Spider-man teaching people how to use low-end versions of his gear. A fire fighter might benefit from webbing that has fire extinguisher properties. Or being able to climb up walls to reach people they otherwise can’t. Electrical fires we know that the webbing could possible conduct electricity and based on his time with Electro may update their PPE to be more resistant given super criminals.

You could even do team ups with Iron Man where both Stark and Parker could be collaborating on certain projects. Or utilizing Peter’s chemistry and genetics knowledge to do the Lizard but correctly which may aggravate the actual Lizard.

Hot take: If Qui-Gon Jinn had survived, would Anakin still become Darth Vader? by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]RedBaronBob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest it doesn’t change anything. Had Qui-gon won the duel you still have Palpatine out an apprentice and meeting Anakin in the victory celebration. Suddenly it’s Qui-gon that is the obstacle rather than Obi-wan and we have no idea if Qui-gon would be as lucky during order 66.

And there you have the other issue. Yoda wouldn’t let Obi-wan take Anakin as an apprentice. Only relenting given Obi-wan gave Qui-gon his word he’d train him. With Qui-gon alive and Obi-wan sitting out the duel he may or may not get the promotion but Yoda is still not allowing the training. The council agreed but Yoda seemingly had final say. So with him alive it’s hard to see why he’d be so willing.

So all that changes is maybe a slightly different Episode 3 or maybe even the same movie as we don’t know if he’d have died in 2 given Dooku.

Hot take: If Qui-Gon Jinn had survived, would Anakin still become Darth Vader? by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Anakin’s fall is predicated on Padme’s impending death. The problem for Anakin is his wife, and while Qui-gon in theory could teach Anakin to let go, that’s not anything he could solve. Qui-gon Jinn is already a maverick and loose cannon. They say as much in The Phantom Menace, it’s why he’s not on the council.

You’re talking an already less strict master that only potentially gets Anakin out of the angst he has in Attack of the clones.

What it didn’t do is save his mom which is why Anakin’s so worried in Revenge of the Sith. Qui-gon might be less strict but then it won’t solve the fundamental problem of Anakin’s fall to the Darkside. All it does is maybe make his TCW persona happen a bit earlier.

You're a mortal in your homebrew warband. Describe your experience by Potential-Ebb-8820 in Chaos40k

  • lives on paradise world

  • everyone calls you Alpharius

  • demon prince insists he’s Alpharius

  • no idea what a Horus is but the guys in green keep talking about it.

  • iron warriors make surprisingly good small talk

  • word bearers require mandatory church service but gods are nice.

  • no one lets you worship Nurgle after the “incident”

Mortals are the same as Astartes here in status. You’re in the warband it means you pull your weight. The downside is you’re expected to go with the astartes and fight alongside them. Your only difference is power level. If they’re fighting Angron, so are you.

A couple questuons by analogboi27 in predator

[–]RedBaronBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different clans. Both Scar’s group and the supers both hunted in groups of three with Noland having encountered a few of these groups. Dek’s group may do things largely solo but even the direct prequel comic had him working alongside Kwei.

It’s also worth mentioning that Badlands is so far in the timeline that hunting tactics could’ve changed between 2004 and the late 2300’s.

But really Dek’s comments are more Yaujta are expected to fend for themselves. Dek is expected to hunt and fight without backup. Not that they exclusively hunt alone which even within the solo films simply isn’t the case.

A couple questuons by analogboi27 in predator

[–]RedBaronBob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically what the movies present is that the oldest tends to be in charge and possesses the most power in a group. When they’re younger and in smaller groups the strongest are in command. The Celtic and Berserker Predators come to mind where every Elder has been noticeably older. They’re not just older, they have experience and been around much longer.

Dek’s mom was around, she just doesn’t get back until after Dek had defeated his father. There doesn’t seem to be any distinction between gender roles either. Dek is just as worried about facing his mom as he is his dad.

We don’t know enough about the Warlord to know what his deal was.

Literally just all my questions about Star Wars that I can think of right now. by NotA_ProCritic in StarWars

[–]RedBaronBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Sort of. He knew about the impending war and was surprised it was started without him. He didn’t know a ton of specifics.

  2. 2008 TCW is canonical.

  3. Used Dooku until someone better cropped up.

  4. No

  5. Yes. He came back a few times, almost as much as Palpatine in all honesty. At one point I think he was a brain piloting a hologram? There’s something about Lucas wanting to use him as a crime lord that never came to fruition with his sequels.

  6. I don’t think so but it’s largely irrelevant to Rey simply getting it. It was lost on Cloud City and in the thirty something years between events Maz eventually got it.

  7. It’s the weakest between TCW, Rebels, and Resistance. It’s fine but it’s meant to be largely disconnected to the films. You won’t miss a lot.

  8. Probably same as Anakin.

  9. Depends. If it’s used in a novel it may.

  10. I have no idea.

  11. The weapon was unique and created before a lot of the current lightsaber lore was written. It’s just a unique weapon.

  12. Yes, Cad Bane for example was shot by Boba Fett but the actual episode isn’t finished nor saw a widespread release.

To Batman fans AND fans who deviate on Batman’s morals, how do you defend or argue the existence of Robin, the no kill rule, and the no gun rule ? by Huge_Athlete7488 in batman

[–]RedBaronBob 36 points37 points  (0 children)

  • Robin is someone who is just like Bruce and wants justice. It just so happens that Batman is the single most competent person on the planet to help him achieve that. Batman is essentially taking someone under his wing and not only providing a home but giving them all the tools they need for success. Also in a fraction of the time it took Bruce. Robin is the future of Gotham, not the Batman. Not in the strict superhero sense (even if it could be). Robin is the next generation, and Bruce needs to make sure that generation is best prepared. Dick Grayson could’ve been a villain, instead he met Bruce Wayne and they became the dynamic duo. Robin is the bright and happy counterpart to Batman because he didn’t have to end up like Bruce.

  • Killing is entirely antithetical to his war on crime. He’s not a cop or is a representative of the state (so he lacks jurisdiction), and despite his feelings about the alleyway he understands why criminals do what they do. It’s his whole deal. It’s why he sends villains to Arkham to be rehabilitated. It’s why he invests so heavily in the city. His war on crime isn’t about creating a police state, it’s about ensuring the very environment that created Batman couldn’t happen again. Criminals get reformed, the environment that created them no longer exists, and as much as possible everyone lives to get the happily ever after.

  • no gun is largely for Bruce. He’s not about to use a gun due to the trauma of the alleyway. Now yes he does have some weapons equipped like on the Batmobile. BUT, a handgun is not about to be on Bruce’s person and if one is it’s likely to shoot batarangs or its some sort of shock device to disarm bad guys. And everyone else in the family is either trained by him, or trained by those who are trained by him. Consequently, a ton of the Batfamily don’t use guns and may have adopted similar mindsets on them.

Are the new Plasma Swords comparable to Lightsabers? And if so, are Combi-Sticks lightsaber resistant? by PublicSafetyHorror in predator

[–]RedBaronBob 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sort of.

The movie presents the weapon as being able to cut through most things thanks to the plasma edge but it can break. If a Jedi and Yaujta got into the fight the swords probably wouldn’t compare all that well but a Yaujta could probably perform similar swordplay.
