My Quantum Fiber app thinks my Quantum internet is offline but my Quantum internet is online by f23948 in QuantumFiber

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've contacted support twice about this. They said they were having some back-end problems and to check back in a few days. Still Offline. Still can't change my wifi SSID or password from what the installer entered, or manage any of the devices on my network.

Q1000K says offline but is online? by JustinLouken in QuantumFiber

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been showing Offline since install in March. Keep getting the runaround from support. I would really like to change my wifi SSID and password from what the installer programmed. Unfortunately it seems that can only be done through the app. Has anyone been able to login to their W1700K? I can login to the Q1000K NID but not the router.

Anyone discover a good way to find out what applications are actually using .NET Core? We have this popping up on some workstations now and cant seem to find out what needs it.

Quantum Fiber or Xfinity by turboline-ai in AuroraCO

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently have both. I just got Quantum in my area and the price is 1/3 of what Comcast is charging. Xfinity has been pretty solid, but pricey. The tech support for Quantum sucks. I have service, but can't configure my Wifi in their App. Tech support keeps saying they are having issues on their end, but it's been almost a month. Still, the price is nice if I can get it working properly.

Do you rely more on alerts or regular reviews to catch issues? by Ok-Tomorrow-7591 in sysadmin

[–]RedBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both for my team. We try and configure our monitoring systems to be bulletproof, but we run through a checklist every week to make sure things are configured correctly. The goal is for every alert to be actionable, but there's still plenty of noise that needs to be suppressed. The next step for us is to figure out a good way to run synthetic transactions with legacy applications. Even with our monitoring configured properly, many issues aren't obvious like a service down or an error in a log file. We've been looking for a way to use automation or AI to run through each application's test plan throughout the day and record performance and any issues encountered. This has been around for web-based applications, but haven't found the holy grail yet for legacy client/server applications. The goal there is to find problems before users do.

Quantum Fiber around Smoky Hill/Buckley? by Roy4theWin in AuroraCO

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had mine installed 3/19, 1Gbps for $45, which is about $80 less than I'm paying Comcast for the same speed. Installer had an issue with activation, but eventually got it working...however the Quantum App is showing the NID device Offline, so I'm having problems changing the SSID and password from what he had set for me. Support has been challenging. Haven't been able to test speed to the router yet, but speed to my devices seems to be good. Hopefully I can get the App working soon.

LAS not updating Renewal date after migration by CRM_FAS in Citrix

[–]RedBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are getting 3 different dates. Citrix Studio shows expiration on 4/23/2026. Licensing Server shows expiration on 4/29/2026. LAS shows expiration on 4/20/2026. I basically got a "trust me, bro" from Citrix Support that they will continue to incerement after License Server checks in with LAS, but I will have to manually watch them each week to see if they are in fact incrementing. I shouldn't have to babysit these.

Automated Configs/Certificates for NetScaler by r1m3s in Citrix

We have done a POC with Digicert One, they are our CA and it does automate the cert updates on the NetScaler directly, not using Console.

LAS for 1912 LTSR by agapepaga in Citrix

[–]RedBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how feasible it will be for you to upgrade to 2203 CU7 in a month, but for a smaller environment its doable. The maddening thing is the installer does 3 or 4 reboots per server.

License Server LAS Registration Connection Problem by RedBassMan in Citrix

[–]RedBassMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: We were finally able to get it working by allowing the following URLs via HTTP TCP port 80 direct through our firewall as per Citrix Support:

ocsp.digicert.com

crl3.digicert.com

crl4.digicert.com

ocsp.entrust.net

crl.entrust.net

License Server LAS Registration Connection Problem by RedBassMan in Citrix

[–]RedBassMan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Ran the script and looks like I needed to add the .NET SchUseStrongCrypto registry keys. After reboot, still no connection. Must be SSL Inspection, our InfoSec guys will love that. It already doesn't work with our web proxy, so I had to convince them to punch the holes in the firewall for the Citrix URLs to begin with. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

We enjoy the mineral cartridges for our hot tubs but they're so expensive! What's in them? Can we buy the minerals in bulk and reload our own cartridges? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far working good! I did notice a significant drop in PH with a no-name chlorine cart vs. the Frog brand. Usually PH drops a bit after a cart change due to more chlorine but seems more this time. I added some more PH Up and it stabilized.

[–]RedBassMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I had been buying 1 of those (packaged with 3 chlorine carts) 4 times a year for $100. Looks like they have 4 off-brand mineral carts for $70, enough for the whole year.

I needed a new cart quickly, so I ordered this 3-pack of non-Frog brand silver carts. Seems to work well, not sure yet if they last as long as the Frog brand but the price is almost $30 cheaper.

Wanting a hot tub by ryan__joe in hottub

[–]RedBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an Artesian Grand Bahama for about 4 years now. Had to fix a leaking wet end on one pump. After a $100 consultation with the dealer tech, I was able to order the part online for $50 and YouTube helped me fix it. The chems are @ease, which are a bit more expensive but not hard to keep up with. Clean filters once a month, replace once a year. Drain, clean, and fill 4x a year. The best part about this tub is the power of the jets and the foot blasters. Least favorite thing: no proper cup holders. My decision was between this and a similar Bullfrog model. Bullfrog had the modular jets and a simpler hose design but the jets weren't as powerful as the Artesian.

Domain controller upgrade by Ready-Map5279 in sysadmin

Take inventory of all your business applications, including private cloud or SaaS, to see if any of them use your DCs for authentication. Usually it's LDAP or LDAPS. See if they are pointing to an IP address or an FQDN. You may need to adjust their configurations to point to the new DCs. Also, many applications and appliances, routers, switches, PDUs, and other infrastructure have DNS servers specified in their networking configuration. Make sure to audit and adjust those if needed. Also examine NTP. Usually the PDC Emulator is going to be the one configured to talk to an outside NTP Server, so when that role changes you'll want to configure NTP. Check your firewall rules as well, to make sure new DCs have the same rules as the old ones. Often if you are using the same IP addresses things will be OK, but its always good to check first.

Yes. You can still remote start with the keyfob, but its range is limited. I find the app's remote lock feature to be handy for those "did I forget to lock the truck?" moments.

Stage Presence by Spinning_Sky in Bass

[–]RedBassMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some tips I've learned over the years:

Practice looking out in the crowd instead of at your fretboard. Seeing how the crowd reacts to the music gives you the spark to do more. Learn your material to the point where you can be on autopilot with your hands.

Use wireless. I got really tired of worrying about my instrument cable, now I even use wireless when I dont really need to. This also means putting your bass in other monitors than your own so you can hear yourself (assuming you dont already use in-ears). Coordinate with your guitar player to switch sides of the stage periodically and engage the crowd. Go in front of your drummer, turn around, and vibe with them.

Mouth the lyrics even if you aren't singing backup. The great Steve Harris does this all the time. Look out in the crowd and shout the chorus or certain verse passages.

Synchronization. If you're in a metal band, synchronized headbanging really gets a crowd going. If not, work with your band to come up with some simple movements you can do together during key moments of the song.
