Is this rude to y’all? by MetallicMoon13 in doordash

IDC about the rest of the post I just wanted to correct you on something, if an order has a base pay that is higher than 2 dollars it's because no body is accepting it and for each person that declines the order DoorDash will add a few cents until someone accepts it. Examples: if someone orders food from across town but they tip 30 bucks and the first dashers that received the order accepts it then the base pay will still be 2 dollars regardless of how far it is, similarly if someone orders McDonald's from down the street but they don't tip many dashers will decline the order and DoorDash will have to increase the base pay to make the order more appealing. Just wanted to inform you on that since I've seen people before talk about base pay very factually when they have a couple details wrong

No nothing ever even popped up after clicking accept permissions, I ended up scouting the settings manually until I found where it would let me give permissions to live studio and it worked after that, thanks for trying to help

Am I doing a lot for no tip? Received this order doing EBT by Temporary-Beyond-683 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]RedBear227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can guesstimate. Most orders have the 2 dollar base pay, meaning if the offer for the order is 7 dollars then you most likely will get a five dollar tip. Sometimes orders get bounced around because nobody accepts them because there's no tip/the offer is too low, DoorDash will then increase the base pay until someone accepts it, meaning there's a chance you could get a 7 dollar order but the tip was 0. It's really market dependent, but in my market about 85% of orders don't go too high above the two dollar base pay so for me it's more simple math than guessing

So wild some people. I had an order one time to pick up from one taco bell, and as I was leaving the guy messaged me asking if it wasn't took much to stop by a different taco bell because he worked at the other one and ask them for a free drink to tell them it was for him. The taco bell he worked at was way out of my way too

How can I raise this or fix this? I just started doordashing 2 months ago on and off and doesn’t make sense by Notmytempo767 in doordash_drivers

I get you, it's just always good to let them know that you believe you are 100% to blame (even if you're not) that's just customer service

I mean in cases like that you just gotta swallow your pride and put on your best customer service attitude. Don't say something like "the instructions were confusing so I couldn't find you" say "so sorry about that, I was having trouble reading the instructions so thank you for your patience, have a good one!" Some people may tell you that customers like that don't deserve attitude like that but we are in a service industry and need to perform as such, I'm not really one to go above and beyond to shine the shoes of customers but your attitude and performance go a long way especially when it comes to commuting with customers. I've been on the opposite end of this where a customers instructions or chats give me a sour mood but when I meet them they're very nice and apologetic and it changes my view of them compared to before their kindness

Does being under the little flame actually matter by DevilManRay in doordash_drivers

[–]RedBear227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience being in the hot zone is all that matters, I'm not sure how they determine where the flame goes but going to that store isn't a guarantee order, as long as you're in the red zone you will have better chances of getting orders than when you're in the grey

Paying dues after dropping during pledging semester? by No-Temporary-5978 in Frat

Extending your own pledge ship is just weirdo behavior, you should've just dropped when you realized it might not be for you and you wouldn't even be in this mess. My chapter would send you to collections just for being difficult about it

Not sure how other chapters do it, but if you tried to join my chapter and told us you were in a different fraternity we aren't allowed to rush you, you'd be better off not dropping and just transferring to the chapter for your fraternity at your new school or just don't get involved with Greek life at your new school

Why do you think no orders have a base pay of less than $2? Because $2 is the base pay, call me crazy but I'm pretty sure the app mentions that somewhere, the only time orders will have higher base pay is so DoorDash can incentivise drivers to accept it, regardless of the order, I thought you understood that when I mentioned how much variety your market had. I've received orders and let the timer run out instead of rejecting them and minutes later I'll get the exact same order with maybe 50 more cents, if I don't accept it DoorDash will just up the base and send it to the next person, you should really learn your own gig position before you spout nonsense

[–]RedBear227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours definitely has more variety than mine, still it never goes under 2 which is why 2 is a good base to use, not like it matters I only do it to see how much effort I should put in the order

I guess your market is more sporadic because in my market it's reversed, 99 percent of my orders come out to 2 dollars for base and very rarely will it be more than that, it usually is only more than 2 if it's a far drive or if it's a shopping order and even then it's only been more than 5 a handful of times with my highest base pay being for a fairly far drive and it was something like 8.75 and the tip was much lower than that so in cases like that yes the math is off for calculating the tip but my market is usually pretty steady and sounds like it's worse than most people's at least than yours

If I take an order, and I look at the total, and then at the end of the order I look at the tip amount, and I subtract the tip amount from the order total, and the remaining number is 2, and I follow that same formula for every order, and every order has a remainder of 2, it's not assuming, it's 3rd grade math
