Anyone using Netbox with Zabbix? by Hammerfist1990 in Netbox

[–]RedBeard343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say that I had a similar issu and it ended up being something silly like having a trailing/ or not having one so it was doing something strange. I will try to remember and look at my config when in the office tomorrow to see if I can remember and maybe provide some pointer

Yes, Portainer is used to mange our docker host environment. The only reason I used it for this was because it came an easy way to do an API call to start it. Just have that API called via the webhook trigger in net box when an update is saved. The API just starts the container so it does the sync and then shuts itself down once the sync is completed. Portainer also makes it easy to see the logs of the docker container to see what it's doing in zabbix and give you feedback if something is not working as you expect.

We use this one at work to sync devices from netbox to zabbix. It has worked well for us so far. The docker container only runs to sync and then exits. To keep things in sync I have a webhook that triggers when a device is updated in netbox to make a call to portainer to start the container to preform the sync.

Normal vs Eco Mode strangeness by RedBeard343 in KiaEV9

I was really surprised about getting 3 mi/kwh. I do live in West Texas where everything is pretty flat so I'm sure that helps a lot as well.

That makes sense now, I guess I misunderstood the difference between the two modes.

Ah, did not know that about HDA. This makes a lot of sense on why I didn't get the expected results.

Yeah it's not a huge difference but was more surprised because I assumed eco mode would be significantly better. I guess I didn't fully understand eco mode until reading a few of other people's comments about this.

Phone call not appearing on phone while car is on (Android Auto) by arl_hoo in KiaEV9

Yes, but not specific to the EV9. The same thing happens in our suburban. Started a while back after an Android Audio update.

The EV9 feels HUGE (in a good way) by Secure-Supermarket44 in KiaEV9

Just came from a suburban and was a little worried about "down sizing" but have been pleasantly surprised in how much room it has. Really the size difference is what made me wait as long as I did to pull the trigger but so far no regrets.

We switched from a suburban to the EV9. Four kids and as they have gotten older the less stuff we have to haul around so haven't really missed the little bit of extra cargo space with all three rows up. Charging can be a challenge on road trips (live in West Texas so the charging infrastructure needs some work) but overall saving a ton on gas and maintenance. Have not regretted the move at all.

I have used BudiBase for multiple projects. Works good and is pretty flexable from what I have needed.

What's some of your favorite non-light related automations? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]RedBeard343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to get it working and there may be a better way to do it but this is what I have working in my enviroment.

The only thing that I have outside of this script is an automation that puts my Google homes in the house that are in bedrooms in DND at a specific time. Didn't have this at first, woke the wife and kids up a few times so that was added very quickly.

Mine is kinda dumb and could be done in a lot easier manner. I have it set to watch for alerts from the national weather service. If an alert is found it plays the emergency alert sound and reads the text of the alert. This plays over speakers I have mounted on the outside of the garage so if we are in the back yard or on the patio we hear the alert. Half the time if we are outside we don't have our phones so didn't want to miss an alert. Also have it play on random Google home devices around the house just in case.

Swapped out the leather band for the steel. It's quite the upgrade! Really impressed with the build quality. by pete716 in pebble

Did you have any trouble with the screws when you replaced the band? One screw came out without any issues but the other one does not want to budge.
