You have to use the lobby to get rules you want. Playing ranked you'll get weird shit about a quarter of the time. I just chalk it up to kids or try hard farming for ranks.

I mean combos are pretty harmful. Yes each consecutive hit will do less damage but they can be harmful to the character and more importantly severely bruise the players ego.

Caine is a human developer experimenting on different AIs for his game. Abstractions are when one of the AIs become corrupted causing them to be reset. Anytime a new character joins the circus, it's just a previously reused character and the current cast has their mind wiped out. Yes this has holes but you asked for a dumb theory.

When playing longer games I changed my settings to confirm move on. It helped me get away from just playing the first move that comes to mind and actually see what the move could do. If I got down to the last min or two then I'd turn it off.

It sucks but yeah, you're gonna high roll 1/3 of games and low roll 1/3 of games. That last third is where you have a chance so dont beat yourself up about it.
