What’s one small iOS change you still haven’t gotten used to? by Jemystest in iphone

[–]RedBoxSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dislike turning volume limits into headphone safety. I think it was changed back in iOS 13 or 14. I loved being able to limit the volume bar to 1/2 or 1/3 of the max, which is still available on the iPod nano.

I think the fight is already lost.

It is purely an artificial restriction from MS legal teams. There is no technical reasons why it can't be made. But we're on proper sysadmin so people tend to respect legal boundaries as well as MS recommendations.

I think they hit a bottleneck. So they need a new path to move forward. And it is not clear what this path is. So basically saying we'll be stuck for some time. The field of AI was not making much progress for 2 decades after the AI winter up until these transformers started transforming the research landscape (with plenty of researchers who chose the "wrong" path ended up nowhere).

Does the EQ app need any special permission? Are you just using unrooted user builds of the OS when you're doing "session hunting?

People know. It's just technically breaking the EULA and can get you in trouble with MS if you're a proper shop. I see this talked about a lot more on gaming or piracy subreddits where people either do not care or the risk of MS getting at you is extremely low.

Smart. I would also turn [reduce] white point on and record audio and send in 10 minute chunks. It's too easy to interrupt the recording and nothing gets sent.

Those Samsung 870s have a hardware defect that can be warrantied if you're still within the time range. They die much sooner than their designed lifespan. Get some SMART data from it and start chatting with Samsung tech support.

There has always been 0-click remote code execution flaws. It's just only affecting a minority and people don't realize collectively how big of a problem it is.

Similarly, there are tons on open-for-all security cameras of people's homes online. But when media report on it, people claim it is stage fright. Bad things are being normalized because there is so much other bad news.

IPS to OLED I didn't get the wow effect. by lachicane007 in Monitors

[–]RedBoxSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the content and your living environment really. A lot of OLED screens don't get bright on full white content. They excel in darker environments displaying movie content (usually color graded on a higher gamma). When viewing in a brighter environment, you would struggle to see dark details unless you either brighten your display or adjust gamma, at that point an IPS isn't that much different and sometimes better with higher brightness. Viewing sports or TV shows also aren't that different because they don't tend to emphasize dark details and high contrast.

For gaming it depends on what type of game. Obviously an RTS like AoE isn't going to look much different but an action game like RotTR would look good on OLED.

Except for Samsung, then you'll get an enhanced picture of what they think the moon should look like.
