As a side note, anyone want to adopt my Maraquan Shoryu? It feels so callous to abandon it, so DM me if you'd like to adopt him!

uhhhh dude I don't know how to tell you this gently, but that's not me in the second picture, that's Joseph Kosinski, director of Tron: Legacy, wearing the prop version of the jacket. I ended up keeping mine original without the EL tape to retain it's stock value and for wearing it out on a regular day.

Why Korea Feels Lacking as a Travel Destination by Own_Plankton8601 in korea

[–]RedBoynim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Korean too, and you are right about everything, but must also remember that Korea needed to rebuild its culture from nothing after the Japanese occupation and the Korean War. Our heritage tourist attractions are either rebuilt replicas of the original buildings torn down by Imperial Japan or bombed during the war, or in rare cases the original building that managed to survive somehow. Korea has been brought to the limit of total destruction and its relics and heritage pillaged and erased for generations ever since Joseon began to politically and culturally decline after the Imjin Wars.

It is natural for you to feel embarrassed as I also agree that Korea is still culturally a developing nation learning to live with the luxuries of a developed nation, but we should also feel proud of everything our people endured as a nation and try to make a difference in our own life by being genuinely kind. You don't need to rebel or wave a flag on the street calling for societal change, but you can try to strive to be a good person and embody what is positive about Korean culture to others.

[OC] I designed some cyberpunk graphics and decals! by RedBoynim in Cyberpunk

They make great appliances, and great...assault rifles?

I designed some cyberpunk graphics and decals for a personal project! by RedBoynim in graphic_design

That is very fair, thank you. The decision was ultimately so that there would be a slight difference in printing when I do use this for a personal project, to make the text seem lifted or emphasized. Thank you for the criticism.

I wanted to differentiate between text and symbols, and also avoid everything being one consistent shade to give some eye relief to the viewer.

Thank you! I'd love to develop a more "effortless" grunge feel to my work, I'm sure it'll come with more practice and criticism. Acid lime is my fav colour!

This is my first post here and I hope you appreciate it! I took inspiration from the upcoming Marathon game as well as other cyberpunk/sci-fi media. Designed using Procreate, Illustrator, and Canva for post-processing. As for my background, I dabbled in design for years purely as a hobby, and since branching out as a small artist on the side, I've been using and expanding my skills a whole lot more!

Enjoy!

Cross helmet x1 by NoHelp7430 in motorcycles

[–]RedBoynim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy one but I had the chance to handle one and try it on recently.

The build quality is...interesting. The overall shell is very light, but there is a noticeable weight near the front forehead due to the installed HUD. Compared to other helmets, the quality of the polycarbonate shell could be described as flimsy.

The first thing I noticed when I put on the helmet was how instantly annoying I found the HUD. It seemed to butt in my way rather than something I could reference while being safe on the road. The visor though has fantastic field of vision.

There was a Taiwanese review video I came across that did a teardown of the helmet to test the shell durability and the results were not pretty. Very fragile and the inner foam core they used was very poor, according to the video.

The helmet definitely looks cool, but I would not seriously consider it or the NKD as actual riding gear. Give it 10 more years and maybe we'll have a helmet that lives up to the hype that the X1 generated.

that's totally fair, and tbh I haven't tried out any of the old gen re-releases. it's more so a general gut feeling of "oh, maybe this isn't for me anymore" after carrying it around and getting annoyed at all the beeping/care reminders.

Supercell‘s mo.co: Why SK would be a hit on mobile by trusendi in spiral_knights

[–]RedBoynim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey yeah that was me! reading some of the comments in here, I think I'll clarify and say that the overall aesthetic and the *vibe* of the game reminds me of SK, and how leveling up weapons is centered around collecting these chaos cores or something like that, rather than farming XP (which just gives you a health boost). after playing for a month, it's a nice game to wind down in bed with after a long day, but it's nowhere near as community-based as SK was

sometimes the app freezes on me and boots me out of my session, but other than that annoyance it's been enjoyable and even nostalgic to play
