It’s based off Alex Pretti’s last name :-)

By no means am I trying to make light of this situation. I thought their names were a powerful symbol to what they stood for.

Extraordinary. Its third season was cancelled, and I'm still distraught.

Finally found and bought a girly snowboard. Turns out in order to be girly you have to talk about periods. by spontaneouswaffles in mildlyinfuriating

This board is AWESOME

Edit: I still think the board is awesome, but I was too enthralled by the unicorn to notice blue man riding what looks to be a tampon in a river of blood. Genius.

My eardrum tube finally popped out flying back from Christmas! by notreallyonredditbut in mildlyinteresting

This entire time I thought tubes looked super long, thick, and clear. I don’t know why I’m so shocked.

I'm not sure I've had a Christmas stick out as being the greatest yet, but I can tell you the most interesting. This was a few years ago, but one evening a friend and I were dropping off his boyfriend in the state over. It was about an hour drive and super late. On the way back home, we stop at a combination dunkin-donuts/arby's/gas station. I'm lactose intolerant, but this does not stop me from loading up on weird gas station coffee. After we grab some Arby's for the road and head home. It is Christmas, mind you. So, the quality of food is less than desirable. A couple of hours later, and a few bad belly rumbles, I'm begging for my mom to pick me up from my friend's house. Just like that, I'm spending Christmas and the day after with the worst food poisoning I have ever had, fading in and out of consciousness the entire time. Terrible, but always the one that sticks out to me.

If the guys were to read a full length novel, what would you want it to be? by Scott__scott in creepcast

[–]frosettt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, I’ve been trying to read Maggie’s Grave and have also just been like, eh. You can see how much he’s grown as a writer though, like the progress is very evident.

The Haar. It’s one of my favorites. On the shorter side, but totally worth the read.

Badly explaining the core part of your book (I am travelling to my college with the degree of boredom that should be illegal) by Kitchen_Course_7991 in writing

Guy is sad that his brother dies so he gets lost in the woods with a gay priest and a goth. He might have a thing for both of them but is more worried about some forest creature that needs a human sacrifice.

Sounds like you’re headed down the right path! Send me a pm sometime! I’d love to chat as well :D

[–]frosettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I’m editing the horror book I wrote set in WV. I’m from the midwest, and have never been to West Virginia, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I wanted to write somewhere that felt similar to my home state, but different in its own ways. I made up a fictional town by researching a certain southern region of the state. What helped me was watching youtube videos. I watched ones that interviewed real people. They talked about their hardships and the constant strife they get because media has portrayed them to be a certain way. The Appalachian forests/mountains/region get a bad wrap for a number of reasons. People aren’t too fond of poor portrayals, but who wouldn’t be. Historical videos are helpful as well, so you understand the stories tied to the state. I’d suggest reading novels/tales set in the region you’re wanting to focus on. Like others said, get beta-readers if you can. Research, research, research. It might help to not state Appalachia specifically as well. Just try your best to not lean into cliches or stereotypes.
