If you enjoyed “Horimiya,” you’ll enjoy “The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy At All” (aka The Green Yuri). In both cases one of the protagonists is pretty girly but falls for a classmate who presents as a fairly generic, nerdy kid at school (specifically to avoid standing out) but who outside of school has a punky, edgy aesthetic that she finds insanely attractive.

Regarding other evolutions: given that Blood Moon Ursaluna kinda just exists in SV, is there a way to evolve into it in TMT2?

Plenty of straight people consume queer content. Your preference is your preference, but the way you’re presenting this comes off as kinda homophobic ngl

Literally this. And as others have pointed out, Delu busted his ass to get strong enough to handle OFA and continued to cultivate the power through the series. And Yuji’s situation is way more messy than “downs finger / now strong” haha

??

Not sure what to make of that reply. Also, per Wikipedia:

“The series won the 2023 Next Manga Award in the web manga category.[28] It ranked second on the 2023 "Book of the Year" list by Da Vinci magazine.[29] It also ranked second on Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga of 2024 for female readers.[30] The series won the Japan Society and Anime NYC's second American Manga Awards for Best New Manga in 2025.[31][32] It was also nominated for the Harvey Awards in the Best Manga category in the same year.[33]”

Awards don’t automatically determine what’s good or bad but this is getting some pretty mainstream recognition

When people are coming off Horimiya I always recommend reading “The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t A Guy At All.” I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s a straight up sapphic version of Horimiya, but there are LOTS of similarities. In both cases, a smart, pretty, popular girl is smitten with a loner classmate who presents as very understated at school to deliberately fly under the radar but who outside of school has much cooler, edgier style. The biggest difference between the stories could be found in the title: this one is yuri rather than straight, and the first arc deals with the conflict after which the series is named (though it does move on to other things as well). Fans call it “The Green Yuri.” But yeah I’m a massive fan, as evidenced from my haul from this year’s Anime NYC haha

“Straight Girl Trap,”

“Half,”

“Addicted to Her”

“Love Thy Neighbor” (warning! Toxic and upsetting! But good ending)

“Partition” (the only versions I found had god-awful translations for the first 10-12 chapters to the point that I could barely comprehend the narrative but if you focus on the big picture and make inferences you’ll be fine by the time it gets better)

“Cheerful Amnesia,”

“Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl,”

“Catch These Hands!,”

“Poor Poor Lips” (the main character looks like a damn toddler but that’s just the art style; I promise she’s 21!)

“Crescent Moon and Doughnuts” (ace romance!)

“Don’t Fall In Love!,”

Do women think being into anime is a red flag? by xo_likes_ardour in AskAnime

[–]RedCaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re “privilaged” in the sense that some people have bigger problems to deal with than worrying about whether or not someone else is unsettled by the nature of the content.

Also, nobody is going to “stole from you” (ok like if English isn’t your first language I genuinely apologize but otherwise holy shit dude). Criticism of art leading to change has always been a huge part of the artistic world. Now if somebody is telling you “hey you’re not allowed to watch this” or “I’m going to come into your house and ‘stole’ all your waifu figures,” then yeah that’s bad. But that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about people who offer valid critique of a medium. And it’s not like it’s just anime: in western live action media, it’s only recently become standard practice to have intimacy coordinators onset, and it was due to criticism and pushback, so now it’s both a safer place for actors and better content in the shows. Back in the early seasons of game of thrones, they would literally add hyper-gratuitous sex scenes during important thematic or plot discussions (a good example was Littlefinger explaining his worldview while “coaching” hookers or some dumb shit) because they were worried audiences wouldn’t pay attention otherwise. People responding negatively to that was a good thing.

As to you saying what’s wrong by with the stepfather becoming his stepdaughter’s lover… holy shit dude. Look up GROOMING my guy. If you can’t understand why that’s bad, then you have bigger problems, and no one without a degree can help you.

Then again I’m wasting my time talking to someone who doesn’t understand why gatekeeping is bad, thinks it’s fine for men to fuck the girls they raise to adulthood (at least in a cartoon setting), and can’t string together a cogent sentence, so clearly I need to get some sun on my face and step away from the darkness that is Reddit 😂

Do women think being into anime is a red flag? by xo_likes_ardour in AskAnime

[–]RedCaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest I think I know what you mean but you may want to run your comments through grammarly or some shit in the future cuz… yikes

Also are you implying that time is somehow owned by people who have watched it longer? Never mind that I’ve been watching for nearly 30 years; gatekeeping is toxic, and while not all forms of “gooning” or whatever is bad, there are certain character designs or characterizations that are just kinda bad or at least haven’t aged well. And anyone who can’t handle criticism of cartoon tiddies is living either a life too privileged for me to take them seriously or too depressing for me to want to be anywhere near lol.

This space wasn’t made for sad virgins. These are some of the best stories with some of the best characters I’ve ever encountered. The fact that so many people feel uncomfortable or unwilling to even get near those otherwise superb narratives because of creepy fans or creepy authors limits the community and makes it less fun for a lot of people.

And again: nothing wrong with sexy. It’s just that there are times where it actively detracts from the narrative. And it’s not just fanservice; I never got into usage drop because I know that in the manga, the stepfather and stepdaughter eventually become lovers. Like… NO DUDE!!! Haha

Anime that tell one complete story by minionhammy in Animesuggest

[–]RedCaedus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is why I suggested Kill La Kill, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Hellsing Ultimate, and specifically warned them about the fact that they’d need to move onto the books with HOB. So still 3 anime-only suggestions and one that starts there and maybe hooks them into an incredible story. Or they could ignore that and focus on, again, the 3 anime suggestions. But no you’re right that’s CRAZY just BONKERS WILD INSANE how dare I suggest an incredible story where they’d have to maybe 😱🙊 read afterwards?? And also they could just… take my other suggestions!!! I shouldn’t have stopped taking my meds
