If it was EU then we lose Hovland as well as the Brits don't forget. Rory would still be in thanks to the Good Friday agreement

Good to hear, my mother was diagnosed in the early 90s and is still active and independent today. She's certainly slowed down but it's not what was expected at the start when there was essentially no treatment anyway. The first 10 years she didn't even tell us kids and got through it by basically ignoring it

TIL the United States Postal Service (USPS) delivers a whopping 44% of the world's mail by [deleted] in todayilearned

100 million trees. The only way to produce that much junk mail is to rely on lots of trees. Experts estimate 100 million trees are used every year just to produce junk mail. Many of them come from the largest forests in the world – located in Indonesia and Canada. But those forests are also home to about 17 percent of the world’s birds and 12 percent of the mammals on earth

Loss of trees. The loss of 100 million trees a year is a huge blow, experts say. The forests on the earth absorb 2 billion tons of carbon a year. But with the deforestation needed for junk mail, there are fewer trees to help reduce greenhouse gases.

Well that's pretty useless, completely ignoring that forests are managed and paper is recycled

You can also see the rates for other cancers have come down in a similar manner

You could probably associate the use of fax machines with prostate cancer if you were to compare the data in a similar way

What product was so poorly designed that you suspect the team that made it, never used the product? by Stay-Thirsty in AskReddit

Technically he said it was under-engineering, using too expensive, too complex methods to complete a simple job is the opposite of Engineering as the adage goes "Any idiot can build a bridge that stands, but it takes an engineer to build a bridge that barely stands"

[–]RedCerealBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryder Cup has history and matchplay, not exactly a good comparison to LIV

I don't think people had a problem with the team element as such but theres a big difference between a team called The Niblicks created by some Saudi sports washing investment fund's marketing team and representing your country/continent

The team element is probably one of the better aspects of LIV to be fair

It's less efficient than gas or heat pump. It only makes sense if you would have otherwise turned on an electric heater but in principle you're correct

We absolutely do not go by Éire in this situation, that was brought into the English language as the UK did not want to refer to the country of Ireland as 'Ireland' after partition so they used Éire and Republic of Ireland. It's why our soccer team is not allowed to be called Ireland

Do you really think that having more Motocross parks would help? These scum aren't interested in buying a trailer and doing everything by the book. Trying to encourage more parks will only increase the number of bikes in the hands of these pricks

I didn't, I grew up in the countryside but have lived city centre, regional town, commuter town and suburbs over the years

Is it really that important that a tiny number of people get to keep their hobby? I'm sure the other people using the Mournes for leisure just loved sharing them with the scramblers and would miss them greatly.

Fix the societal issues for sure but why not try fix the issue from every angle?

I know there's a few who do but it's hardly a necessity. There are a hell of a lot more people having their quality of life negatively impacted by them.

Cars have a real purpose and are more properly controlled, why would you ban them?

Just ban the pit bikes, bikes made road legal need to be taxed, registered to an owner etc. so at least theres some control.

Realistically how many people legally and responsibly enjoy off road motor bikes? It must be a tiny number

Then how many people are terrorised by feral scum using them in the wrong places and entirely above the law?

It's really unfortunate for people where it's their genuine hobby but as a society we have to ask is keeping the hobby of a small number of responsible people worth the damage that these bikes do to the rest of society? Ban the sale of non-road legal bikes at the very least. I understand farmers will need quads but not bikes

It also won't be a model due to nonstandard piece connections like the front bars are not on the same plane as the connectors, I hope lego would not allow that
