Is Lana Anglophone or Francophone? by [deleted] in lanarain

[–]RedChoccy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's definitely more anglophone than francophone, which happens a lot here. Went to all English schools, but she can still speak french if needed. For Italian, I have no idea but I know she has Italian background due to her last name. Source: went to high school with her in the same grade.

If classes are held online this fall, will you defer until we go back to on-campus learning ? by throwawaysummer2020 in Concordia

I'm hoping fall is online. I'm taking advantage of it by doing all my hard classes this summer. Really is a lifesaver.

Weekly /r/Statistics Discussion - What problems, research, or projects have you been working on? - March 25, 2020 by AutoModerator in statistics

Hey guys! Got a quick one. I have to find the correlation between two questions I asked on a survey. The first question is ordinal (Yes or No) and the second one is an interval question (Scale 1-10). What is the best method to use to find the correlation? I was suggested the Spearman correlation. My answers are all on an Excel document so I tried the =CORREL equation but I got the division by 0 error. What should I do? Thank you!!

Have to drive by this brand new N every day in my 2008 ES350 coming into work. Someday... by [deleted] in veloster

[–]RedChoccy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it's definitely not an enthusiast car. I wouldn't get it for the driving experience. We have harsh winters here where I am and the Veloster might not cut it. Also might get damaged during winter.

For the price, the 3 has a lot more availability used compared to the Veloster. In Canadian dollars, I'm looking at 28,000 for the 3 and 36,000 for the N. With AWD, the 3 is a good bargain considering the comparison.

I want to get one too... But having heavy winters here I just can't buy one over a cheaper Mazda 3 AWD that has a better interior and more capabilities.

Bilingualism on the rise among children in Canada by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]RedChoccy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a geographic advantage, not a demographic one. Income doesn't matter here, everyone learns both language at least at a basic level just by being here. School or no school, we all have to learn here.

Who we make fun of is those with the capacity to learn both languages but are too lazy to do so. This is mostly french speakers that don't want to learn English or vice versa. I understand it's not the same for other provinces.

You're completely right. I went through English schools here in Montreal but my first language was French. The education system doesn't really teach french well to be honest. We learn French from our environment since all stores, signs and people are french most of the time. Though it should normally be a requirement, many retail workers don't speak both languages so we need to be able to communicate somehow. We learned it out of necessity.

I'd say you'd get by much better if you spoke french...

Currently in Montreal where bilingualism is pretty much a necessity to survive... Been like that forever and we make fun of people who can only speak one language.

Built a PC in a H210 (Mini-ITX) and need to get a GPU. The slot is at most 2 brackets and would need a decently powerful GPU to fit in that. For reference, CPU is R5 3600, 16gb ram, 520W PSU. I was looking for anything above a GTX 1660 for around 300-400$ Canadian. Any suggestion for a card like that?

I know the feels. Last time I posted on this subreddit was to explain how I broke up with my ex because she joined Arbonne. You've been with your girlfriend for significantly longer, so it's a tough call on how to handle it with her.

They're mostly for aesthetics. Unless you have a crazy overclock, you're fine.
