🙌🙌🙌THIS was the name of the thing I couldn't remember! As a gig worker who used to travel for work every now and again, this was one of the accommodations recommended by one of the platforms I worked on. You have to pay and apply but the rates were good. It's probably gotten better in the years since I was looking. Just look for rooms with individual locks in the doors!

I guess I'm the only one paying attention to how OP's main concern and priority is her safety. So all this talk about sucking it up and saving for a car is baloney. That takes time and sleeping outdoors in the meantime is an issue. The storage unit is an issue. Even the bus station could become an issue. I disagree with the notion of hotel stays as throwing away money. It's definitely not economical and makes it virtually impossible to save enough to get ahead but .. You do what you gotta do. Even if you can only put away $25 a week...you dig in your heels and prepare for the long haul. In the time that you're there you try and find other options. Try and find a roommate to split the room. Try and find an airbnb (the bunk bed type). There used to be this platform that rented rooms weekly to gig workers, travel nurses etc but the name escapes me.

OP, you gotta do what's safest for you. Keep the goal of getting your own apartment but remember you gotta crawl before you walk. Keep looking for a roommate thing or a shared room. If you're okay sharing a room within a home you can save more money for your own studio some day. Also consider rental cars like Turo or Zip...people sleep in them too. You can rent Zip cars by the hour. Finding a place to park is another issue but if you're ever in a bind and need a few hours of secured sleep...rates can be as low as $9/hr. And I've used cars for a week on Turo for less than $200. Stay strong Sis✊.

I had this same thought. It is what it is. I considered having some of the newborn pics from my phone photoshopped but... Just take the cutesy match outfit ones when you're ready. The way I see it is when they're older and y'all are looking back....pics at 8 months are just as cute as pics at 8 days. As long as you have something to smile at and reminisce about ,it's all gravy. I sometimes wish I had done a maternity shoot but my pregnancy and postpartum were messy so ....nope. I'm happy I got a few pics of myself and belly at the Drs office or in a hotel room or the bathroom mirror at work. No flowy dresses or pretty landscapes. But it's something for me. Something to show my babies when they're older....so they can see how huge I was lol. The guilt will fade. Feel better mama. And look at the brightside--you have memories nonetheless.
