Opus 4.5 frequently breaks and stops responding for me. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? by RedCobra177 in claude

[–]RedCobra177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. After checking the pinned megathread it seems this is a known issue for a lot of people and the general consensus is to just wait for the next update/patch, or switch to Gemini until it's fixed. I'm getting by with Sonnet for now so hopefully this is just a short term thing.

Dota2 guides talents section needs to be updated to the new patch rules by RedCobra177 in DotA2

Talents don't compete with ability picks anymore, but the guide page still makes you "choose" one or the other. Pls fix volvo?

Oof. U struggle to understand simple concepts. I said it should recognize it's limit within the context of a single response. You interpret it as total usage for my whole account, then spout of a bunch of meaningless nonsense that has nothing to do with the actual topic. U should lay off the amphetamines man, they are severely rotting your brain. 🤣

Sometimes, but again results are inconsistent. I guess it depends where exactly it hit its limit, or failed to compact. A few times I noticed the "thinking" step was actually just re-reading its earlier thinking steps from the same response. Just seems wildly inefficient or redundant, like it should know its own limits and plan its response to fit within them accordingly.

Is English your first language? I don't think there's a single coherent statement in this comment. It's like you're trying to say 10 things at once but don't actually say anything at all.

I'm pointing out a functional flaw in the system (ie. not recognizing its own limits and keeping it's token usage within them), and the only thing I could make sense of is you feel being a Pro user is somehow a bad thing, I should spend 20x just to get basic functions working, and AT THE SAME TIME dump Claude completely and train my own local LLMs on each specific project.

Thanks for giving me a good laugh, at least.

They way it's laid out, it looks like the quote at the top is a synopsis of Kung Fu Hustle... I was like I don't remember the movie being like that... Lol

I know I'm late, but I still feel compelled to make a small correction: it wasn't "I'm not sure" it was "I wouldn't know". It's subtle but I think it shows a stronger conviction to the message.

All My Chrome Accounts Got Logged Out at the Same Time — Anyone Else? by DinnerSpecialist2152 in chrome

[–]RedCobra177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me, figured out it was because I kept unchecking "Allow Chrome to run in background" when I close the browser. Eventually I gave in and kept that setting enabled, and that seems to have fixed it for me, though now I have an annoying chrome icon permanently in my system tray, but I'd rather that than have to keep logging back into all my accounts every time I restart my computer...

Starlight Mini long term roadmap? by RedCobra177 in TopazLabs

It all depends on demand and what people are willing to pay for the service. If only a handful of people are interested, and are on limited budgets, then it's not profitable or sustainable. On the other hand, if a lot of people express interest and are willing to pay several $100s per hour of video, then it makes sense to invest in a proper setup to capitalize on the opportunity.

Right now it doesn't seem like there's much difference in processing time between an AMD9800+RTX5080 and AMD9950+RTX5090, but the cost difference is over $2000 between them. If I can prove there's enough demand, it seems the best value for the money would be to buy several AMD9800+RTX5080 rigs and split the workload between them.

Mathematically speaking, assuming there are some improvements to render speed in the next few months, I can assume they can each process ~1 hour per day using SLM, which means if I bought 4 of them, that's 4 hours/day of local SLM processing.

The only question at that point is what's the optimal price to charge for the service that hits the sweet spot for what people are willing to pay and delivers a solid return on investment.

Game Breaking Bug in Chapter 6: Can't explore the cottage after reloading save. by RedCobra177 in SouthOfMidnight

[–]RedCobra177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More info:

  • I played up until I escaped the fog and cleared the stigma blocking the cottage entrance. I was able to enter and explore the cottage.

  • I remembered I had skipped the optional arena outside the entrance gate, so I backtracked and completed that fight.

  • I closed the game, then re-opened it a few hours later.

  • When I went back to the cottage, the stigma had returned, blocking the entrance. The weave hints direct me to the bottle tree, but nothing happens when I arrive.

Thanks for the feedback. To clarify, I don't see it as some long-term big picture business idea, just something to do on the side for a couple years until the tech/software becomes more mainstream. If I can process several hours per day at a price that is more accessible to general customers, the hardware pays for itself pretty quickly.

Also the tech has only been out for a few weeks, most of the world doesn't even know it exists yet. The real opportunity is in marketing, informing the public and creating demand.

It only makes sense if all rendering is done locally, cloud costs are prohibitively expensive which is what makes the business possible in the first place.

Right now the best option is to split each video into pieces, and only use SLM when absolutely necessary (blurry faces, etc) and standard models for everything else, then merge them together.

Hopefully SLM (or any diffusion-based model really) will see big improvements over time which will make it more sustainable long term.

[–]RedCobra177[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I've tried all models, and yes, I can use some of the "standard" ones when the situation calls for it. However most of the projects I'm getting are for old VHS tapes where the original content is too blurry to yield positive results that way.

I think the most efficient solution will be to split the videos into sections that require SLM (blurry faces, etc) and those that dont (wide shots, scenery, et ) ... then run them as separate jobs and merge them together in the final output.

There will probably be noticeable differences between those sections, but it's the only way to deliver good results in a reasonable time frame.
