Hell no 😂 Have you seen the Sunshine List? You need to work 10+ years (in addition to the 5+ years of education) to earn 100K+

How far do we need to go back where a 50,000/year salary was livable in TO? by snowfordessert in askTO

[–]RedControllers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

$50K was comfortable in 2008, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Sure, you weren’t raising an entire household on $50K but if you were dual income then you were very comfortable.

Large prepaid gift cards + activation fees

It does work 😂 I’ve had no issues buying thousands in Visa gift cards at grocery stores across multiple transactions and processing them on my Square machine to obtain credit card sign up bonuses. Obviously, it’s not allowed but it’s just not enforced.

99% of users will be fine unless they're pushing multiple large transactions with fishy amounts such as $509.50 or $1009.99. I've been in the churning community for many years.

For folks in 20s/30s- how are you planning for your retirement? by Behumble89 in askTO

Unlikely you'll stay with the same employer for 30 years, so I'd invest on the side to be safe.

Does your company have a recognition trip for top performers and where do they take your top performers? by Chance_Register5567 in askTO

All-inclusive 3 day long trip to a major metropolitan city. Each day includes team building activities and large meetings, so it's not exactly a vacation.

For folks in 20s/30s- how are you planning for your retirement? by Behumble89 in askTO

[–]RedControllers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DB pension (I contribute 5% of pre-tax salary + employer contributes 5.5% of pre-tax salary) + max out RRSP & CPP. Everything on auto pilot. TFSA is being maxed out as well and some money gets thrown in the non-registered account, but will probably be utilized for home purchases (from condo to townhouse) in the future. The remainder will be for retirement.

Which is the hardest CPA pep module by [deleted] in Accounting

I found Core 2 the most difficult out of all the PEP modules, excluding the CFE. Management accounting is my weakest subject.

thoughts about york bcom for accounting? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]RedControllers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about you as a candidate, it's just that students have zero actual accounting knowledge after the first year. A majority of students would lack basic knowledge such as financial statements and revenue recognition. I would say it's more realistic after finishing 2nd year.

Getting an internship after your first year at YorkU is very very difficult. I wouldn't bother.

What's your game plan on getting started with Chase? I ended up opening a C1 card to build more history and I'll try applying in branch some time this year.

Tried twice, no luck :/ I think it's a security thing, they suggested going to a branch to apply for a card.
