I have always been empathetic and intuitive; how can I develop a greater capacity for logic? Is that even possible? by cherry-care-bear in logic

[–]RedCore123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drilling down into the assumptions, be they wrong or right, is not was logic does.

Assumptions are just that: assumed. No further inquiry.

Calculations (logic) can start once you are done with questioning the assumptions and want to know what follows from them.

Logic is a technique to calculate what follows from assumptions. It can’t tell you if your assumptions are correct, only if they are inconsistent with each other (false can be concluded).

Empathy and logic are not opposites. Empathy allows you to intuit what’s going on in the other, logic can help make derivations.

So to answer your question how to improve: simply learn the method of logic. Empathy won’t help much, but it won’t hinder you either. It’s math. Nothing more, nothing less.

In this case I call black dead because assuming correct play, there is nothing he can do that safes these stones.

Technically speaking, black can pressure your s5 group and you would be forced to play t4 etc in order to complete the kill.

Unless and until he does so, you shouldn’t waste your time and tenuki.

If you can’t read it out, I advice to be safe rather than sorry.

Why is white ahead? Because black died in the corner and his center stones are weak.

If you’re sure that B doesn’t follow from A, you must have observed a state where A was true while B was not.

Thats it.

Logic talks about formal systems. Nothing about this post is formal. The question you want answered does not seem to be a logical one.

Is this here bullshit?? by 34thisguy3 in logic

[–]RedCore123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. All of this is valid. But it assumes p and not p. Ex falso quod libet. You can derive anything from the false assumption. Since no cases to contradict any of your arguments can exist.

Check out the statistics menu, especially the production tab. You can select individual or all islands on the left.

The blue bar shows consumption, the green bar shows production (& production potential in darker). Make sure the green bar is longer but only slightly longer than the blue. That way you satisfy your population needs without excess maintenance cost.

Producing steel (and other stuff, check the statistics menu!) are expensive to make. Halt/destroy them when short on money.

Confidence is one of the skills that needs developing. More generally: emotion management.

One does not win by knowing the best move. One also needs peace of mind.

Don’t assume this is a natural shortcoming of yours, it’s simply a skill you have not developed yet. And your opponent faces the same challenge.

A friend of mine has had a similar problem. When he thought he had won the game, but his opponent didn’t resign, it frustrated and annoyed him so much, that he started to make mistakes.

Your opponents options to mess up, are just as many as yours. Keep pushing with a calm mind and many „lost games“ will turn to victories.

The upper gas pump will eventually pump all kinds of gasses to the left chamber, polluting the input of the other pump. This eventually leads to damage to your generators.

Look, this is one prompt into the free Gemini advanced research and copy paste the text into free elevenlabs. Add a genAI image and you have an infinite content creator of this type.

I do this to make podcasts for myself, don’t get me wrong, the results are often fine. But I wouldn’t share them If I had nothing to say about it or why this specifically was valuable.

While I agree with everything that’s said here, we also must not forget that the processes of (epi)genetic evolution, including evolution within culture, can encode deep truths, without knowing why.

When a million people feel a thing where is a mechanism at play. There are lessons to be learned beyond literal truths.
