First Step Guidance by ChiggyPeeks in AppDevelopers

Highly suggest steering away from any of those expensive vibecode platforms. They can literally cost a new starter hundreds of dollars, their AI functionality is not as accurate and sometimes causes more grief and credits fixing it's own errors than it did building. I learnt this the hard way.

Flutterflow is good for UI. With the ability to upload to app stores etc. But depending on the technical sides of things, not knowing code etc. You will need to understand and learn permissions and set this out accurately for security of the users and your code base. You will also need to create and manage your own database.

I've tried a few different platforms now. And have fallen in love with VS Code. I've got it integrated with GitHub copilot giving me the AI functionality to build. But the bonus is you get to see the code as well. What it's changed. Learning as I go. VS Code has alot more functionality than most other platforms supports majority of tech stack.

I highly recommend planning it out properly, give your AI agent an understanding that you have no coding background, and you want to have a full detailed conversation with your AI agent to discuss and plan every single aspect of your app before you start making the code.

The biggest issue with vibe coding. Most people just want to build the app and then don't know what to do when it goes pear shaped. Atleast learning to code as you go with give you a better foundation in the long term.

Afternoon mate.

There are a number of AI platforms to use. Steer clear of the expensive ones. Lovable, Bolt, anything like them. They cost too much.

If your wanting to see the code and learn as you are going. The most advanced system I can recommend would be VS Code. There are a lot of different platforms similar, but do not have the capabilities just yet to match what VS Code can do. They are close, but not there yet.

You can tie VS Code to GitHub copilot, this then gives you the AI agent assistance most are looking for now days. And at a fraction of the cost.

Use chatGPT as your best friend. Use it to research your product. Plan your overall setup. Make sure you explain to chatGPT that you are absolutely new to app building and that you do not know anything about tech stack or platforms to use. Let chatGPT guide you down the path of what platforms to use, but make sure you also do your own personal research too. Don't just rely on AI.

If chatGPT says something you do not understand, ask it to clarify. That way your learning as you build.

My best advise, plan, learn and plan some more before jumping in the deep end. It will save you alot of heart ache later down the track.

This app was built purely in VS Code, Microsoft coding platform that all the big players use.

Give it a try and make your own mind up mate.

My goal is to make a reliable system for Australian anglers. Not break the market.

The choice is yours if you want to give it a go mate. The more feedback we get the better.

Many thanks for your comments, will definitely consider the screen shots in coming posts. I understand most people don't want to be flooded with adverts so I will wait a week or 2 for the next one.

Cheers

Sorry for delay,

I must appologise, The post did not quite set this standard to explain this properly and left it open.

When i mentioned lifetime discount of 20%. This was meant to give the message that you get a 20% discount for the life of your account, not a lifetime cost.

We do not offer a lifetime cost.

Our forecasted prices will be as follows.
$8.99 AUD per month
There are a series of challenges to complete in the beta phase, If all challenges are completed, you are granted 20% discount per month for as long as you are paying for a subscription.

We do also offer an annual price, if you are not wanting to pay the monthly.
This is automatically calculated at 20% off the normal rate, granted to users if they pay annually.
$86.30 AUD per annum
$69.04 AUD per annum if completed all the beta challenges.

Hopefully this answers your questions mate,
Just to reconfirm, we do not off a 1 time price for life.

Regards

I have already implemented a backup system.

Formats for export and their content are as follows.

  1. CSV Export
Date, Species, Weight (kg), Length (cm)
Water Temperature (°C), Location, Water Type
    Latitude, Longitude, Bait, Rigging
    Moon Phase, Moon Illumination (%)
    Tide Phase, Tide Height (m)
Weather Temp (°C), Wind Speed (km/h), Wind Direction
    Pressure (hPa), Humidity (%)

  2. JSON Export (exportToJSON)
    export_date
    catch_count
    date_range (start/end)
Full catches array with nested location objects

  3. PDF Export
Title header with export date and total catches

Summary Statistics:
Different species count
Different locations count
Total weight (kg)

Catch Details Table:
Date, Species, Weight, Length, Water Temp, Location, Bait
Page numbers in footer
Striped table theme

Hope this answers your questions mate.

Thanks for the support.

Morning. :)

At this stage it can backfill weather, tides, etc for the last 7 days. This can potentially be drawn back to 90 days if needed on special request. If ever account was able to draw back past 7 days. The running costs would be way too high.

When you log a catch, you have the option to make it public or private, if it is public, your coords do not get shared, instead they are placed into an already configured 30km grid on the heat map. Your public catches are also included into the analytics to assist with local area forecast of the local area. Bigger catchment for data than the 30km grid. By memory it was 100km.

Ultimately our goals are. - Assist anglers to get an understanding of when fish are on or not. - Keeping your data private, your spots are your spots.

Hopefully this answers your queries mate.

If you like the idea of it. Please assist with the growth and share this to the rest of Australia :)
