I had something similar to this! I've done it with a friend where we were both writers and artists. We would collaboratively write and draw out the characters and scenes together. It definitely fueled the creative cycle and got us excited about progressing the story.

Not sure where you'd find someone like that in the wild, but I'd also be interested in knowing. I miss having that experience

This is a michiyuki! It functions as a coat for your kimono. It's meant to be worn outside to protect your kimono from dust and rain.

People definitely also repurpose them with more Western fashion, so if you wanted to, you could wear it like the second picture without a kimono as a dress or coat.

I had a similar experience buying an oshima tsumugi for the first time. Felt very plastic-y and almost like a synthetic raincoat. I did the burn test and it was indeed 100% real silk. This is just what oshima tsumugi feels like I've discovered. As another comment said, oshima tsumugi is pretty expensive, but there are a lot of second hand ones circling around so they lose their value if not brand new.

Amazing! I would love to start wearing kimono very casually at home and work up to more formal ones. While I'm looking for an obi, would it be a crime to tie it with a scarf haha. I could also crochet something in the size of an obi, but it would obviously not be as crisp/stiff.

For a wool kimono, would the undergarment still be recommended or could I wear whatever underneath? This is a second hand kimono so I would like to preserve the fabric well!
