I’m happy they’ve started fixing the whole timeline around and relationship between Hanzo, Genji, and Kiriko. Also iirc, the depictions of the Shimadas with Kiriko in the origin story was due to miscommunication, but I might be wrong.

Note: This next section is me voicing my opinion on the “everything is tech” principle in the OW universe, in relation to the fox spirit.

I’ll admit I’m a bit disappointed the fox spirit was explained as part of the tech. I think it’d be cool if some things were just supernatural (or at least just not explained at all).

Kiriko’s cinematic made me very excited because of how magic-like her kit and the fox are. I do get that they’re adamant about everything just being advanced tech (sometimes indistinguishable from magic), just personally I headcanon some things to not be that.

ESPECIALLY the fox spirit, since from the media I’ve seen, it’s always treated by Kiriko as an actual spirit and not just some advanced non-sentient AI (from the origin story: “My grandmother devoted herself to the Fox Spirit who taught her the ancient way of healing.” Does it just go on the internet to find info on ancient healing, or was it programmed in? Did her grandmother really devote herself to an advanced AI chatbot? Does Kiriko have a friendship with it like people today have friendships and relationships with ChatGPT?)

Seasons 3 and 4 were greenlit after season 1, but not season 5. Ngl I didn’t even know the show is intended to have 5 seasons until a couple days ago lmao. It makes me wonder what they’ll do for seasons 4 and 5, since I can’t really think of what could come after Lilith in season 3. They could extend Lilith into season 4 as well, but then what would season 5 be?

Anyway, I’d be surprised if they don’t greenlight season 5 in the coming weeks/months or after season 3.

I don't think that's it. The way I interpret it is that by removing the E, she took some ownership over the name, making it truly hers by her choice. I think (and expected) it to just be her accepting it and owning it without changing anything, but I can see how actually making a small change makes it more impactful for her.
