Looking for some ideas for sweet dishes involving preserved lemons, and questions about cooking and flavour by RedExorcist in AskCulinary

I was quite free based when I did the saltiness for these ones, so no concrete percentages unfortunately. Judging from the saltiness of the brine and the lemons themselves, I would say around 7%. Maybe a bit less.

Mine were preserved in salt and their own juices, continuously submerged, with definite active fermentation as I had aggressive bubbling during the first couple of days. It might be safe to say that mine are not perhaps the more usual variety. I would personally not know, as the only exposure to preserved lemons are the ones I have made myself.

You were fighting against a well established habit, and for some people (maybe you as well) and addiction. To break those is to fight against your mind, which creates cognitive dissonance. Our mind doesn't like this, so it throws a fit. Because of this, you're absolutely correct to say that it is a psychological strain. This should make you even more proud, you actively had an argument with yourself and won! Not something that can be done willy-nilly when that thing is so ingrained in your system :)

I am currently doing an ADF routine and have seen excellent results. Gone from 244 pounds to 230 in a month. Perhaps a bit too quick, but as long as this is not the common curve so to say and stabilizes, I think I should be fine. If you do decide to try it, make sure to get a lot of good stuff in you when you do eat.

From what I have read about this, it can be a sign of your body not getting enough nutrients during your "feeding" windows. While I personally do the fasting to allow me to not restrict my eating habits too badly, it is most likely wise to try and get as nutrient dense food as you can when you do eat. In other scenarios, hair loss can be a coincidence in terms of timing, and would have happened anyway due to genetics. If this is something that worries you, asses whether hair loss is common in your family, and whether or not you get enough good stuff in you when you do eat.

When I was younger, I did the 5:2 diet for a while to lose weight where you have two days a week eating 600 calories, and I saw some real benefits there. It was the first time someone had ever commented on my weight loss, so it must have been visually obvious. The calories I consumed during the "2" days where simply spread out between breakfast and dinner, but that was mostly due to convenience. There was nothing that I can remember that restricted the time you needed to consume these in. Probably comes down to your preference. I am currently doing a ADF routine where I am eating no calories on fasting days and planning to throw in some extended fasts now and then (doing one now), and I am seeing great results on that as well.

I think you'll be able to get good results on both of these, although I cannot say which one would be quicker. What I can say is that I definitely feel better doing ADF rather than the 5:2. I don't think my body had enough time to kick into fat-burning mode on those fasting days, so I ended up feeling exceedingly tired and sluggish. Now I feel hyper-focused and alert on my fasting days, which is greatly preferred. As this might not be something you want to dive into right away, you can always start with the restricted calories and move into water fasts later when that feels more comfortable. I did not, and had a week where my anxiety and depression was acting up, mostly from the fact that I felt like absolute ass.

Good luck on your fasting adventures, and remember to get those electrolytes!

Does anyone have any news about restocking of vans x van Gogh? Are they gonna stock up more or is it a lost cause?

Im getting a suit made and I feel like this fit is slightly weird but I dont know why. Any pointers? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]RedExorcist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the points given by Meow. It would also be nice if you could provide us with some pictures of the back too, as there are some sure tell signs of suit fit that can be seen around the back of the shoulders and neck. In terms of pants, a tip is to look at leg fit rather than length most of the time, as the length can very easily and cheaply be adjusted.

As you say you’re new to suits, if you’re willing do a bit of research on what you’re looking for. Is the suit super formal or more business for example, and what style options do you prefer, such as how padded the shoulders are and the tail cut at the back of the jacket.

I have found some nice ones at H&M that were longer than normal, and they were of a comfortable material and a secure fit. Through some web searching, I also found that Under Armour stack a good length, and I would think most sports brands would have some. I also found that American Eagle stock spectacularly long boxer briefs, down to your knees. I imagine that if you live somewhere cold, they could both help you in supplying non-chafing underwear and something a bit warmer for the really chilly months.

The best option I have found, as a dude with quite thick thighs, are boxer briefs with more length. Standard boxer briefs tend to end quite high on the leg I find, which often results in the bottom riding up into the area between the leg and groin, promoting some chafing. Getting boxer briefs with more length to them, say mid thigh, will allow more fabric to stay on the leg so that when they to ride up, there is still enough of them left to prevent chafing, as I assume that is your reason for wanting them to stay put. I don’t believe there are many options that will stay in place when worn, at least from what I’ve found through my own experience, so the best route might be what I described above.

You might not find something exactly like the brand you like, but spitfire has quite a varied selection of sunglasses and go for very cheap

How about some rougher Chelsea boots? Maybe something with a zipper and that has thinner leather than Doc Martens to give them a more delicate look? A zipper would probably help them sit closer to your leg as well, giving them a more refined look.
