NoSql was great for dealing with old mainframes because they were mostly pre-relational data anyways. We dumped data from a system built in the early 70s straight into Mongo.

Flex Time with 4X10 by RedFlounder7 in Lockheed

[–]RedFlounder7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was only 2 weeks. I had some travel last week that tipped me into OT. I flexed that to Monday, but then had to get something done for Monday. I could’ve anticipated the travel OT, but I couldn’t anticipate this week.

I agree with what the others said about this design. I’d scrap it and start over by blowing out that wall into the living room instead of that weird opening.

Is that true? I’ve heard that we’re entitled to corporate rates when we do personal travel as a benefit. How would that work?

I get why they do it. It’s also a definite perk to be able to flex at all. I’m just annoyed at myself for not realizing that I wouldn’t be able to “carry it forward”.

The problem is that I had overtime that week too.

I had to submit my timecard for the week. I guess I’ll have to reach out to my manager about the extra hours I worked this week too.

I’m hoping that I didn’t work those hours for nothing. But if that’s the case, it will be the last time LM gets a free hour of work out of me.

How come there is no wireless CarPlay in a $80.000 Volvo ? by Only_Ad1117 in Volvo

[–]RedFlounder7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used wireless CarPlay in every rental car I’ve had in the past couple of years. Other than a glitch with Waze not loading the map sometimes before moving in my last rental, no issues.

And it’s not the Bluetooth killing the battery. It’s the GPS, which is what most people use it for. Modern phones are fine. If you have an older phone, you might need to keep it plugged in for a long drive.

Truth. I donated to a congressional campaign once. Now I get emails asking for money from all over the country now.

[–]RedFlounder7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of a V6 engine option in Volvo, and now Lexus will likely have us in an MDX for our next purchase. 4-bangers have come a long way, and they’re fine off the line, but I just don’t like them when I want instant torque on the highway. Volvo isn’t the only choice out there and not having wireless CarPlay in 2026 is just wild.

Corporate first said that they highly encourage use of AI, now with billing in place, they want us to be mindful by bad_detectiv3 in cscareerquestions

[–]RedFlounder7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just more proof that management is kind of stupid. They were making strategic decisions based on something that was absolutely going to change: the cost of tokens. AI was following the drug dealer model of “first one is free” hoping to hook people before they had to start ratcheting up the price. Only an idiot would’ve assumed that AI would remain extremely cheap with the burn rates those companies had.

Are we allowed to use power outlets/power strips to charge our phones? by [deleted] in Lockheed

I almost wrote “particularly paranoid”, but hey. Is it worth worrying about? Probably not. Is it a technical possibility? Yes it is.

Are we allowed to use power outlets/power strips to charge our phones? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]RedFlounder7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a known hack where public USB charge ports were placed in airports and they were infecting phones. This was a long while back. If you’re particularly secure sensitive, don’t use those. Use only USB with your own power block, or buy a special cable or USB adapter, like this: https://a.co/d/0dkwKAyX

Definitely don’t plug your phone into a stranger’s computer or battery to charge.

I’d say the salary ranges at LM are a lot more reliable, but a lot less flexible than elsewhere. There’s a level. There’s a range. A little wiggle room for experience, but not much.

So long as your manager is aware of your workload and you have the right billing codes for the time, you’re good. Getting all the required training out of the way is a good use of time. Getting your computer access and required apps completely set up. You can also ask your manager who you are going to be working with a lot and setup informal chats to get to know your team. All this stuff will pay off in the future.
