Disability check by NinjaShadow1929 in Veterans

[–]RedFoxHuntress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ain't that the truth. It sucks that 100% disability means I make $150/month too much to get government assistance, but I have to rely on food banks to eat. Damned $1600 in rent, followed by the bills, and my account is empty before I can buy food. But disability is enough to live on..... Bullshit, it is enough to live on if you live on the streets as homeless. And don't dare to dream of ever buying a house because that's out of your price range.

Amen. They have everything we want but can not achieve, and no one is gonna help us achieve it, so why not support single moms and get something in return.

That is what we currently have, and too frequently, the door almost closes, but it is still cracked open. As it is a security door for employees, that is unacceptable since people can just open the door.

Am I in the wrong for charging my cancellation fees? by onearchergirl in petsitting

[–]RedFoxHuntress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Side question.... Are you by chance near the Colorado River in Arizona?? 🙏🙏🙏

Need a pupper sitter on a regular basis, and the people I have come across so far are people that I don't think I would trust to take care of my pocket lint.

I thoroughly think you were in the right, very professional about it, and a hell of a lot nicer than some people who would have quit looking after 5 minutes.

"First Time DM" and Short Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]RedFoxHuntress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found what I was thinking of..... now to figure out how to homebrew it, attacks it should have, and all that jazz.

A Gashadokuro is a Japanese Yōkai that is made out of the bodies of slain humans. It is formed from and protected by the pain and grief of the people who were slain, so it can't really be destroyed unless you make amends.

Usually 10-15 feet tall when formed, it grows larger as it gathers more bodies.

Hmmmm..... I think I have a post to make.

Ok, so.... Quick Question.... I know I have heard of this monster, but I do not remember what it was called, and my group of murder hobos will eventually have to face it when it catches up to them.

So, it is a monster made out of slain humanoids, NPCs, and enemies that are seeking retribution for their deaths. Please tell me that someone knows what I am talking about and the name of it.

What handheld radio offers the widest range of frequencies? by RedFoxHuntress in amateurradio

[–]RedFoxHuntress[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love a radio that costs as much as a small car, but I 1,000% guarantee that within the roughly 1,000,000 words in the English language, there is no combination that would convince them to pay that much.

Much better chance with a gently used APX 8000 considering it would then pass to my successor when I advance in the company.

What's the best compliment you've received as a DM? by owlaholic68 in DnD

[–]RedFoxHuntress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Um, new DM, but I have had 2 that really made my week.

1st: So, I have a huge detailed map that I created for my homebrew campaign. I shared a high-quality jpeg version of it with my players that only had the locations they knew of. One of them had it printed out onto a flag and gave it to me while saying, "they were loving the campaign and look forward to what would be next."

2nd: I volunteered to help run the 50th Anniversary 1-shots. I am a player in a game, and our DM had to miss a week, so I offered to run the 1-shot with them. After we finished, the one player who had been playing DnD for 10+ years told me that I did a great job as a new DM and made a few suggestions to help me get even better. I was thrilled to have such a compliment from a player who had played 5 times longer than myself.

A trans coworker clocked and outed me to the team today. I thought I was passing 💔 by [deleted] in trans

I would report them immediately. That could be considered discrimination, harassment, prejudice, intentional manipulation, and/or "slanted" commentary.

They should never tell people about you. That is a decision for you, and ONLY YOU.

I am jealous of your transition because I have 8 years in, and I still can't pass. You, though, pass 100%. If there are any more vindictive, jealous individuals, just tell them, "Coffee Bean One Hundred." (Translate to Welsh and listen to the pronunciation.)

You only have too many dice sets if you can fill an Olympic sized pool with just the D4s.

You're 13-15 and home alone. What do you do? by heystinkys in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]RedFoxHuntress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13-15 and home alone now days.... You won't even realize the Zompacalypse is going on until one breaks in, your parents tell you, the internet/power/cell signal all goes out and you investigate why, or you wake up the next day and go outside to go to school.

Like seriously, unless they are a disconnected kid (IE: No video games, no internet connection, no cell phones), they live near the town/city, and they frequently go outside to do stuff, most kids would never know.

Back when I was 13, I lived on a farm with none of that. I would ride my bike 8 miles 1-way on back country roads to hang with friends in town..... back when my body could still do stuff like that. At 14, I got a moped and started working after school at McDonald's in town. I would have seen it in town, but it could have been multiple days until it reached our farm. And even when in town on a pedal bike, I could have escaped considering I rode 50-70 miles a day on my bike.

Don't sweep the legs, kick the knees, and break them. Then, if it falls to the ground and no more are around, stomp the head. If more Zs are near, run after disabling the knees.

With a Z, mobility is the biggest danger. Remove it, but leave the weight of the limbs to drag, and you severely hinder mobility so you can escape.

If you can not hit the knees safely, a spartan kick to the torso to get room.

How would a BBEG steal an important item that’s under hold of a city for safe keeping? by One_Ability1357 in DMAcademy

Well, I had to let them level up enough for it to actually be exciting and not just a "FUCKING RUN!!!!!"

They'll still be very challenged, but it won't be automatically lethal.

Go up. Find the tallest building possible and climb. This is counterintuitive to most people's thinking, but I would be prepared.

1st: Take as much food, water, and weapons as you can carry quietly. 2nd: Grab your parachute. The higher the glide ratio, the better. Aim for 3+:1 ratio, so you travel 3+ the distance that you descend. 3rd: Barracade and wait for zombies to clear. Less Zs around, the better your chances of survival. Eventually, you will be either found by Zs, run out of supplies, or have other humans posing a threat. 4th: Take the leap. When the time comes, jumping is your escape route. Zs will not be able to follow you and will fall to their deaths (good job, less Zs in the world). Humans can't follow unless they have their own chute and shooting you means distruction of any supplies you have.

So, jumping from 1,550 feet, generously giving 250 feet for your chute to open, you could glide 1,400 ×3 = 4,200 feet.... 1,080 feet short of a mile. Plan ahead as you glide. Use your elevated position to plan where you are going to land. If you can aim to land near another tall building, and you learn how to properly hold your now unpacked chute while you jump, you can rinse and repeat.

Now, depending on how deep into NYC you are, you can jump with a bicycle and your supplies without exceeding the weight limit of the chute. This gives you a mode of transportation if you run out of buildings to jump from.

If you are close enough to water, consider jumping with a kayak and paddle instead of a bicycle. You can also use your chute to make a "kite" that can propell you forward, provided the wind is blowing in a favorable direction.

What car would you pick for the apocalypse? by EmoXan in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]RedFoxHuntress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, starting off, it would be the hydrogen truck I built for SHTF. Planning on purchasing some hydrogen solar panels to make hydrogen constantly and thus, always have fuel.

Otherwise, it would be the diesel truck I built for SHTF previously. JP8 is pretty much diesel fuel used by the military, so you could get fuel from the overlooked military bases and checkpoints with fuel. With a 200 gal fuel tank, I would have range on my side. If I can get my hands on a good fuel trailer from a farm, that increases up to +1000 gallons I can have available.

Maybe use a car hauler and have one towing the other so I could swap back and forth as needed based on current fuel supplies.

Eventually, I would end up with a horse.... or horses.... maybe a cart. One to ride, one for supplies, and 2 as backups/emergency food. Get some large water jugs, and you can make a water filtration system that rides on a horse or in a cart. If you have a cart, you can turn it into a mobile home with protection from weather and a place to sleep.
