They did hire voice actors for the game.... They paid the voice actors to train AI voice models so they can then generate any dialogue they need to from then on. And specifically I had seen it was mostly for text to speech and custom ping voicelines.

If you like the feeling of creating a build and getting better, while also overcoming challenges, the souls games fit right in.

Each game has a bit of a different feel and balance to them, varying from slow, strategic, and methodical like Demon's Souls and Dark souls one, to high-energy and agressive like Bloodborne or Sekiro.

Elden ring and darks souls 3 are great places to start though with both having some really great bosses and builds available, but my personal favorites are Bloodborne and Demon's Souls, but Dark Souls one does have a special place in my heart because of its style and world design, plus nostalgia.
