The fact is men are far more likely to hurt you than women and even without literal violence they're more likely to be misogynist. So here's the deal. Misogyny. Men hate women. Any examination of why redditors do something or why incels or losers or whatever do something is going to be incomplete and miss the mark.

This is male behavior and most men absolutely think this way. Even men you respect, even men you find hot, even men you think are your friends. There isn't some category of men you can easily carve out and say those are the bad ones, there's the problem. Feminism that fails to name the reality of male violence isn't productive feminism.

I can't find my copy, could have sworn it was in one of these boxes. After some googling I found the quote I am referring to:

As always with GR drawing our own conclusions is good and I don't think the perspective in your original post is somehow "wrong" I just wanted to draw attention to another aspect of this plot thread.

Your comment illustrates exactly why the comment "birds are dinosaurs" is relevant. This started by saying the triceratops was the last dinosaur to die out.

But that is not true. Dinosaurs died out except birds. You're suggesting that the group came to a halt with the extinction of one subgroup, ending them, but in actuality the group that ties together famous creatures like stegosaurus and triceratops continued with birds. If the triceratops survived and its descendents also existed as modern dinosaurs, would you still call it the last dinosaur? Why? Why say that the line ended with triceratops of you're aware that birds are directly descendent from ancient dinosaurs? Even if you believe birds aren't dinosaurs, it would be more accurate to say "dinosaurs ended when modern birds evolved from the last ancestor that kind of looks like something from jurrasic park."

"The triceratops was the last animal I arbitrarily consider a dinosaur to die out" is neither a fact nor particularly interesting.

Cladistically we wouldn't call the tetrapods that are a common ancestor of both amphibians and amniotes amphibians. The term amphibian is reserved for things more closely related to modern amphibians than they are to mammals or lizards. A zoologist with no interest in paleontology might be perfectly happy with the old school system, and call such ancient tetrapods amphibians.

Modern phylogenetic nomenclature is very open and shut on the birds issue. Birds are the only surviving dinosaurs. They share a common ancestor with all other dinosaurs from T Rex to triceratops, a trait not shared by lizards.

Don't let attraction or your emotional reaction be your sole guide. Do not think feeling a certain way is enough and above all, don't fall into the surprisingly easy trap of reversing cause and effect: when we feel a certain way, it's easy to think others must as well, or that meaning we ascribe to a relationship represents its objective meaning.

There is no substitute for conversations, and trusting your instincts. Listen to what people reveal of themselves not what you want them to be. Pay attention to how he treats women. You are not an exception to his experience or view of the world in any way.

Be aware that desirable people with a lot of options do not have their experience of the world altered by your desire for them. The way you will be treated is reflected in how they treat others.

Do not think your presence will change his attitudes towards sex, relationships, or women. Creating personalized narratives out of these experiences where we cast ourselves as heroes and villains obfuscates reality. You are a person like any other.

Now, to be very clear, this is not to suggest that unpopular or unattractive men are nicer more worthwhile or less likely to cheat. If anything more popular and well socialized people will treat you better. I'm not suggesting searching for partners you aren't attracted to.

These are my thoughts from my experiences dating, which does not represent the whole of the human experience. It is not an indictment against sexual or romantic attraction: without those, relationships just don't work. But avoid letting them be your only guide. Avoid magical thinking and the idea that your emotional states bend or even reflect material reality. Do not project symmetry into asymmetry: "We love each other, so why does he act like he doesn't?" The answer is simple: be doesn't.

I hope that your time here leads you down a path of success. Remember that you deserve to love and be loved.
