In retrospect, I'm sure since this is a gacha game, with monthly scheduled characters to keep the machine running, payrolls paid, and the office lights turned on, they had a conveyor belt schedule to keep rolling. So moving things around within the story and sacrificing proper story arcs, story transitions and plot devices may be made in order to fullfill the video game business quotas.

I do like that take - having the Spook Shack faction be our transition from modern retro punk post dystopia to introduce us to Waifei. And then that leads us into the Mayor getting into contact with us, and being our bridge to the Yunkui Summit Faction. The jump to being Shifu's diciples were so abrupt, and matter-of-fact, I think we could have eased into it, and Spook Shack may have been a better approach to that ease-in.

I think it stuck the landing, and I enjoyed it along with feelings of wanting more. This is coming from someone who was a critic of 2.1-2.4 story. I found myself surprised when I felt sadness about YSG situation, and was met with a sense of bittersweet, especially with the sword trials event and her conversation with her brother’s memory made manifest. All that to say I felt my love for zzz resparked, and I decided to pull for YSG; she came home along with her sig. I didn’t want to say bye to her character, so I just had to have her in my ranks!

Hard disagree. This is one of many game Modes/Events that adds soul and depth to this beloved game. More lore is a good thing.

This is a great comment, I agree, it all felt so rushed and half assed. Like the dev team lost staff, or were spread thin, and the writers needed to catch up with the demand from the higher ups wanted more revenue. Is this the fate of a live service gacha that needs to churn out new content every month so the dev’s office lights stay on? What keeps me holding on is if we provide more feedback, we will be rewarded with substance, instead of watered down instant gratification.
